Friday night pig out meal

Everyonelovesharry · 30/09/2022 14:59

It’s dh’s night to put Dd to bed..from 7.30 onwards, I’m planning a night of Netflix, Totp 2 & Gogglebox.
Fancy an easy selection of crap foods to pig out on too 🤣it’s been a healthy week and now I’m starving.
I don’t drink anymore, so it’s all about the food.
I’m thinking maybe nachos/crisps and dips or pizza and something chocolatey, coke (drink it about twice a year) maybe cheese, crisps and mayo on white bread 🤔
What’s your go to?

I know it's only September but I have a Camembert with a sourdough loaf for dipping for tonight!

Snap, although I have some Olive Bloomer and some sticky sausages to have with ours. The weather has been wild all day and I am feeling like I’m coming down with something - this is exactly what I need tonight

Grigorisangel · 30/09/2022 18:22

As a coeliac with a lactose intolerant son I now need a trip to Morrisons pizza counter, thanks for the heads up
my tea tonight is southern fried chicken with mozzarella sticks, fries and beans.
I bought a tub of celebrations and roses today that will be opened tonight 😳

MissDollyMix · 30/09/2022 18:22

Oh I do love a Friday binge! Actually we have a little routine- Friday night DD has a club so we need something reasonably quick and easy for when she gets back so if we’re feeling indulgent we’ll get a takeaway and if we’re on a budget we’ll get some microwave curries. Saturday night is always family pizza and movie night with a treat pudding. Some of the other posts on here are giving me ideas for how to liven up my Friday night lazy meal though! (Disclaimer we do eat ridiculously healthy, mostly vegan food the other 5 nights of the week!)

HighlandCowbag · 30/09/2022 18:23

We are having Indian. And Moretti. No specific pudding but I have chocolate stashed.

Mogloveseggs · 30/09/2022 18:25

Well tonight is definitely a pig out. Ds came back from school trip requesting kfc so we've just had that it was so nice.
Got salt and vinegar twirls, nik naks, mini whips, Fini pencils, Haribo and dairy milk for later for the film

FelixDoublyDelicious · 30/09/2022 18:26

We are having southern fried thigh burgers and chips

PennyPinkleton · 30/09/2022 18:28

Thanks @Mangogogogo but unfortunately we don’t have a Morrisons where we live - I do use L/f cheese if I have pizza at home, but I do miss a muggle deep pan, stuffed crust meat feast takeaway pizza with all the trimmings!

JeanMarie · 30/09/2022 18:34

God I'm salivating at all this food porn! 😁 Unfortunately for health reasons I'm strictly low fat and dairy free for the foreseeable . My Fri night treat is a packet of salt and vinegar Popchips.

TheDouglasChater · 30/09/2022 18:38

Fellow Camembert-dippers, can I recommend this accompaniment? You'll never look back.

Massive loaded Korean burger with brioche bun and skinny fries, Dr Pepper, giant bag of pick n mix and a bar of Tony's Chocolonely

anderosonnmj · 30/09/2022 18:51

I'll probably do some airfryer chips with loads of salt and vinegar and some ketchup. I'm in the US and can't get good chips where I live, so I have to make them myself. And I think I've got some Tesco curry sauce mix lurking somewhere at the back of the cupboard.

And earlier today I bought a baguette and a selection of cheeses from Lidl (no Waitrose or M&S meals for me). I managed to get some Wensleydale with apricots, so that'll be my dessert.

Oh man I wish you'd posted that 8 hours ago when I went out to get my cheese and bread!
I do however have a slightly fancy Camembert rather than bog standard!

I like your suggestions. Simple and basic. But I've lost my appetite reading about the amount of mothers going hungry to feed their kids. My lord, what is happening in our country. Anyone has extra food today. Please put it up on olio so someone can have it.

WatchingTheCloudsRollAway · 30/09/2022 18:58

I love a donner kebab with LOADS of salad and lashings of super hot chilli sauce, then an extra box of salad with garlic mayo.

Or a cheese burger with tonnes of salad and burger sauce, and cheesy chips with lots of ketchup.

Or 1/4 duck to myself with prawn crackers, and crispy seaweed. Might have crabstick soup to start.

If I want something sweet then cheap ice lollies or a bar of Cadbury's Marvelous Creations.

Odoreida · 30/09/2022 19:00

bread, cheese and crisps, what an excellent choice!

Dumbledormer · 30/09/2022 19:44

Oh my god, this thread is making my mouth water. Obviously a Chinese being top shout with an extra chow mein for breakfast but if it’s a supermarket pig out then:

posh crusty bread
Smoked salmon pâté
camembert to bake
olives with lemon and garlic

Or (if feeling slightly poorer) French stick stuffed with cream cheese and Parma ham.

Then, raspberry donuts, microwaved for three seconds 👌

If it's not a takeaway, ours is a party food buffet ... chicken dippers, potato wedges, filo prawns, onion rings, pizza, breaded garlic mushrooms, duck spring rolls, sweet chilli dips, garlic dips, hoisin. All out the freezer, in the oven and then spread out on warm platters on the coffee table while we drink gin/wine/beer and watch crap TV in our PJs. Perfect Autumn evening

This is my idea of good chill out food .

Either that or lots of tapas typs things and cheeses and crackers

I haven’t heard of Olio but thanks for suggesting, I’ll look into it.

Ooo I was just thinking what to have for a Friday pig out dinner! Possibly chicken burgers with mac n cheese and red wine.

Also baffled at people suggesting it's now the season for cheese. Do you not all eat cheeseboards and camembert all year round?! It's too good to keep just for the winter!

If I ate as much Camembert as I would actually like, I'd be one of those people who need firemen to take the roof off their house to get them out Grin if I restrict it to the colder months of the year I at least stand a chance of not being refloated by Greenpeace off the beach in the summer.

Mybumlooksbig · 30/09/2022 22:33

Crackers, crusty bread, proper butter, cheeses, meats, pates, olives, pickles and gherkins, red wine

MooseBeTimeForSnow · 30/09/2022 23:45

I’d be on my own for sure afterwards. The wind!! I love French Onion soup. Alas, it does not love me!
