Helliebean, that is different though to a sales call. I came back from holiday to find a message on my answering machine. It was my credit card company checking if I was aware that my card was being used extensively abroad. Well, yes I was because it was me using it. Fortunately, the nice chap in the security department had enough common sense to realise that the combination of me not returning his call, the particular message on my answering machine and possibly the purchase of some travel tickets on the card meant that it was genuine use and he made the decision not to freeze the card. He did suggest that I call them before going on holiday again though, so another little task to add to my pre departure list!

Helliebean thats awful! But i think if my call was as serious as that he would have told me when i asked what it was regarding. He would tell me what the call was about unless a gave details first.

i missed mine about a week ago or something, we got married last week and i just forgot, they were making sure i was still alive i think and i paid by debit card. Still v annoying at that time though, i was watching a film and had to get up to answer the phone, i have SPD as well(29 wks pg) so was even worse!!

chenin · 25/01/2008 12:29

Vinegar... yes, true.. he probably should/would have told you the nature of the call.

But the chap from my credit card company was very foreign and, if I remember rightly, asked me some security questions too... I was just flippin' glad he had rung! I was very impressed. Glad your card wasn't frozen whilst abroad - that would have been rather annoying!

I am having the reverse problem - Halifax keep calling during the day to talk to DH and despite being told repeatedly that he is at work and they should call after 7pm they still keep calling mid morning. Problem is that he will then refuse to take their call and I will be left fielding them from here to eternity until he actually tells them to go away in person.

It also makes me very fed up when they phone you and then you have to jump through their security hoops like you wanted something from them.

If they phone again, tell them you can't give them the details as they phoned you and you have no idea if they are who they say they are!

Argos rang me at 9 45pm to sort out delivery dates of the bed I ordered! I let it go to answerphone and was astonished!

Ring the bank today to see if they called and moan if it was them!

mumzyof2 · 25/01/2008 14:10

Im with Capital One, and they havenever, ever rung me.

littleboo · 25/01/2008 14:14

VT - we have this all ther time with sky, who always want to speak to my dh( all in his name).... they even keep phoning during the day. though i've told them so many times he is at work...... not surprisingly.... otherwise we wouldn't be paying for there service.

But we had one friend who got so fed up with her bank phoning at all hours, she actually picked up the phone the last time and told them that no Mrs.... was not there, infact no one was there, she was actually in the process of robbing the house, so could they please get off the phone cos they were preventing her finishing her haul!!!they haven't phoned again

Agre with others. It sounds dodgy you dshould never confirm address and date of birth over the phone.
