AIBU to think this tweet surely can’t be true, and if it is then it it’s a disgrace! What has this country become?

ditch uniform, wear sensible warm clothing.

Uniform usually is sensible and warm? I never understand why its perceived as uncomfortable.

You can get leggings or thick tights to go under school trousers if they are lightweight, and good old vests under shirts etc for extra layers under sweatshirts.

These is supposed to be a nice place to learn..we live in the western world the fact schools can't afford heating and the government doesn't address this is shocking..

Some children will go home to an unheated home too.

It is really depressing

There is a minimum temperature for workplaces - and a school is a workplace for teachers and other staff - so they will have to have some heating on to meet that. Admittedly it's on the cool side but someone dressed for winter should be fine.

not RTFT. But it’s the OP suggesting that her child might bring blankets rather than the school?

Personally I’d be very unlikely to send a child to school with blankets. Rather a thermal vest and a coat. The blankets comment is all a bit dramatic.

Actually, there isn't. I was surprised too. The only temperatures mentioned are 13-16C for active workers, though there is legal obligation for employers to maintain a comfortable working environment.

As the pupils are not employees, I doubt they have any rights, any muscle will have to be exerted by staff.

There will be a lot of teaching and learning in coats this Winter. It's a bit easier for us adults as we move around more. Bloody miserable for the poor kids who are often sat still at a desk.
