To think it's really difficult to get a job

Just that really
My partner is looking and has applied for so many jobs but there are so many people after the same job.
He is only been offered warehouse jobs through agencies involving heavy lifting and he has joint issues so not really suitable and they are just minimum wage.

I would look at the job website indeed as I always find they have lots of jobs on there.

He could look for a trainee position.

How long has he been out of work?

Employers are more likely to take on people with recent work experience, so he could even do some volunteer work to shoe potential employers that he is hard working.

There was a thread the other day about SAHPs struggling to get a job because the employers wanted someone with more recent work experience, so I definitely think this may be the issue.

Do you have any pics of some of the shoes he made ? I live in Northampton which was the shoe-making capital of the world at one point. There are still factories here, but nothing like how it was in the past! Maybe he could make and sell his crafted footwear ? There must be a market for good quality hand-crafted leather goods. I knew a woman in Spain who supported herself and her two young sons making leather goods (eg, bags, wallets, belts, etc) and selling them at markets and fairs. I think she took a short course at a local college to learn how to do it.

@yogz1976 @Derrymare this is a really good idea. Handmade/custom shoes, especially those from Northampton, have been having a bit of a renaissance in recent years (check out channels like Rose and Anvil on YouTube for example) he he does have samples of his work he might find it easier to get a job or produce custom leather goods for smaller brands on a contract basis.

Myself and DD work for two different wellknown shops, not supermarkets. They're always needing staff. Only just above minimum wage, but someone has to do it.

Really hope he finds something soon, OP.
