Watched Cliff Richard singing Livin' Doll on MTV at the weekend. "Got a rovin' eye & that is why she satisfies my soul" "gonna lock her up in a trunk so no big hunk can steal her away"
So he's a cheat & a kidnapper!

Can you think of any others? There's no reason what so ever for this post, other than a change from all the worries we are all facing

Everybword of Duran Duran’s Hungry Like the Wolf. Eg

Stalked in the forest, too close to hide
I'll be upon you by the moonlight side
Do do do do do do do dodo dododo dodo
High blood drumming on your skin, it's so tight
You feel my heat, I'm just a moment behind
Do do do do do do do dodo dododo dodo

I would do anything for live, but I won't do that (forgive himself if you don’t go all the way tonight

You can’t beat “Come Outside” which was the late Wendy Richard of Eastenders fame and a guy I can’t remember the name of

Little doll it seems ages since we kissed)
Little doll think of all the fun we've missed
Coz it ain't right to wanna keep on dancing
There won't be any time left for romancing
Come outside,
(what for)
come outside
(what's the rush)
There's a lovely moon out there
(it's cold outside)
Come outside,
(why)
come outside
(you do keep on)
While we got time to spare
(I want another twist)

Now I went and promised your old man
That we'd be home about half past ten
Seems we've got just one more jive
Then we'll be starting home again
Come outside,
(get lost)
come outside
(go and ask lil)
There's a lovely moon out there
(you can go off people)
Come outside,
(give over)
come outside
(belt up)
While we got time to spare
(why don't you listen to the beat)

Little doll I know the band ain't bad
Little doll I'm a-getting kinda mad)
Coz it ain't right to wanna keep on dancing
There won't be any time left for romancing

Come outside,
(lay off)
come outside
(shove it)
There's a lovely moon out there
(you are a one)
Come outside,
(all right)
come outside
(not for too long)
While we got time for a bit of slap and tickle
(I'll slap and tickle you in a minute)
Oh come out for a bit of…….

the brackets are what Wendy sung!

Judge Dredd... it was banned by the BBC

Fairytale in New York.
I once worked in a primary school and the dinner staff put the now christmas album on when the children were eating their christmas lunch. One of the parents complained about Fairytale of New York being played. The Head teacher asked the parent to email her a copy of the lyrics so she could see what they were complaining about. When the parent did this the email was stopped by the software that stopped obscene and unsuitable content. The Head had to tell the parent they were right and apologise.

dottypencilcase · 27/09/2022 08:46

Girl I want to make you sweat
Sweat 'til you can't sweat no more
And if you cry out I'm gonna push it
Push it push it some more
A la la la la long
A la la la la long long li long long long
Come on
A la la la la long
A la la la la long long li long long long

Wtf. As kids we'd be singing this out loud not having a clue what it all meant.

HuzzahIndeed · 27/09/2022 08:47

@Sonnex "I'll take a bruise, I know you're worth it. When you hit me, hit me hard"
I'm not sure it's about abuse though? I took it as figurative but willing to be corrected.

So many songs have messed up lyrics. It's annoying having to remind the children every so often that a song isn't about a healthy relationship! Maybe OTT but growing up I took Green Day lyrics to heart. 🤣 I don't want them thinking violence or whatever is just a sign of passionate love.

Could just be because it's sung by mick Hucknall though 🤮

That certainly doesn't help 😒

I think the whole point of that song is irony ,they are two drunks slagging each other off but deep down they love each it's not meant to be a fairytale, I agree though it's not really suitable for primary school children.

GlowingBear · 27/09/2022 08:51

Backstreet Bots as long as you love me. I don’t care who you are, where you’re from, what you did, as long as you love me.

You could be absolutely anyone, a serial killer even, and that would be fine because you love me. Not exactly healthy relationship standards there…

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 27/09/2022 08:51

Not so much the songs more the singers...

I can recall dancing around to Gary Glitter and we were even meant to see him live at our school at 9 years old at a Christmas party.

HuzzahIndeed · 27/09/2022 08:53

What do people think about "It's cold outside"? Not the sleazy Tom Jones version!

To me, he's getting her drunk and I can almost imagine him "playfully" blocking the door so she can't get out.

I have heard people saying it's about her autonomy though eg she wants to stay with this man despite her family not approving and she's happily letting herself be talked around and by the end she's happy to stay.

PlainJaneSuperBrain99 · 27/09/2022 08:54

"If I died, would you come to my funeral? Would you cry?" - Heart won't beat again by JLS. I just imagine some needy AF weirdo messaging me this on tinder because I've ignored his dick pic.

Floogal · 27/09/2022 08:55

Bump and grind by R Kelly. Enough said

It's also a type of meatball and wood bundle

But the song is also about heroin addiction. So yes not exactly kid friendly

You say it best...when you say nothing at all. Cheers for that.

You're sixteen by Johnny Burnette. Would have been less creepy if sung by a teenage boy, but he was in his mid-late 20's. Just looked it up and Ringo Starr covered it when he was 34! That video is something I can't now un see.

Dead South's in hell I'll be in good company is a great disturbing song about infidelity, domestic violence and murder.

GooglyEyeballs · 27/09/2022 09:09

You don't know your beautiful and that's what makes you beautiful

Translates to

I like you because you have no self esteem

Darcy101 · 27/09/2022 09:11

Yummy yummy yummy I’ve got love in my tummy and I feel like loving youuuuu …

my mum told me off for singing that at age 9 I never really got why ! She said it wasn’t for a little girl to sing. Even as an adult I’m thinking they were singing about butterflies in the stomach 🤔anyway I stopped singing it.

Taylor Swift - Blank Space:

"you can tell me when we're over if the high was worth the pain"

"Boys only want live if it's torture. Don't say I didn't, say I didn't warn you."

"Darling I'm a nightmare dressed like a daydream"

I mean, that set off red flags even before we know what he'd done! "my mind's telling me no... But my body's telling me yes" - he was literally telling us he was a creep back in 1993 🤦‍♀️

Flossie2shoes · 27/09/2022 09:14

Do we want to live in a sanitised world where nobody is allowed to write a work of fiction (song or book or poem etc) that reflects a seedy, but real, aspect of life? It's wrong to murder people, but crime thriller writers aren't to be condemned as prospective murderers are they? Or their books burned because they portray situations that are illegal, cruel or otherwise unacceptable.

WeepingSomnambulist · 27/09/2022 09:16

Dr Hook's She was Only 16 is pretty bad.

Sannesmom · 27/09/2022 08:36

True, but I'm wondering if the misogyny of yesteryear wasn't just as bad, even without the bitches and hoes...

I like to see the odd opera when I can afford it.

Don Giovanni might not be calling women bitches but having his servant follow him around and recording his conquests is pretty low behaviour.

Carmen's first aria is fairly racist.

But we tend not to criticize opera.

Father Figure by George Michael. Put your tiny hand in mine . . . I’ll be your daddy . . . warm and naked at my side . . . sometimes love can be mistaken for a crime etc.

I thought the crime he was talking about here was homosexuality?
