Do you treat yourself with a massage?

The last couple of times I’ve had a massage (in the last couple of years not regularly!) I’ve really enjoyed it and I’m thinking perhaps I should treat myself more often. Is it a bit ott to have a massage once a month for example?! I think there are known to be benefits aren’t there?

I have a sensual massage as part of my wellness routine, it is incredible, I feel wonderful for days after. It's not cheap but I'd rather save elsewhere and do this when I can. It's not for everyone but works for me.

MurderAtTheBeautyPageant · 01/10/2022 23:44

How do you find a place that is suitable?
I have a male friend who has been having awful neck and head aches, so tried to look for a local massage place to help.
He found a local one that was cheap.. the lady took him into the room and stripped off, revealing a very skimpy dress. He felt awkward and left right away!

PauliesWalnuts · 01/10/2022 23:46

My friend is a mobile therapist so she gives me one every couple of months. I have a desk job and if I’m concentrating on something for a while I tend to freeze up - it’s great for loosening everything up. I book her direct but she also does some work for Urban Massage - think they are nationwide.

AffIt · 01/10/2022 23:49

I'd rather remove my own eyes with a spoon than give a stranger money to vigoroursly rub me, but like anything, I guess it gets better the more you do it.

OneTC · 01/10/2022 23:49

A special kind of torture, they have exactly the opposite effect on me that they're meant to, getting tense just thinking about it Grin

AffIt · 01/10/2022 23:50

Vigorously, FFS.

Hate a typo.

Thatboymum · 01/10/2022 23:56

I have one every two weeks and couldnt be without my scalp back neck a shoulder days

LimpBiskit · 02/10/2022 00:01

I have one every fortnight. I have it on a Friday afternoon and it sets me up for the weekend.

feeona123 · 02/10/2022 01:11

I would prefer a facial. I go to my local college and use the trainee students…so cheap! I could afford every week at £9.

Lolreally · 02/10/2022 01:57

I am a massage therapist everyine should have massages weekly 😂😂😂😂
They are really good for you, I do mainly deep tissue and try to get the balance between releasing tension knots etc and relaxation.
I get amazing reviews and results so it can be done.
With frequency I tell my clients to have the first massage and see hiw they feel how there body responds and from there we can work out how often to resolve issue's and then on to maintenance. I absolutely love being a massage therapist it is the best job ever.

For me I go to a place that is an osteopath clinic it is a large one and the lady that does my sports massage is one of the staff. I generally do not like people touching me but I trust her 100% she has been doing mine for a few years now
I work out a lot at gym but also have old injuries from a car crash years ago she really works wonders on getting the tightness and knots out all over

how sensual is a sensual massage?

In my case very, but there are different options where I go.

Zippedydoo123 · 02/10/2022 08:14

Though I have now found a much cheaper beautician as her building looks much cheaper to run. So for the price of two treatments in the past I can now enjoy 3. Indian Head pedicure and back rub. I have a desk job so do feel I need some regular self care.

I'm a therapist as well.
Weekly massages are great, but do it at least monthly if you can.
Massage isn't just pampering. It has enormous healing effects! The healing power of touch.

If anyone is local, mate's rates for forumites.

GalileoHumpkins · 13/07/2023 11:05

I can't even stand the head massage at the hairdressers. It makes me so tense.

EllietheElephanti · 16/07/2023 15:51

I have one booked in next week

NattyNatashia · 16/07/2023 19:49

I adore massage but have been spoiled with long sensual massages and now nothing else will do. The regular Spa massages just don't cut it any more :)

Quick q in case you know, as doctors aren’t very forthcoming. Is massage suitable for backs with herniated discs? I’ve been avoiding it since I was diagnosed but I’ve been waiting for an appt since March and likely to be waiting a lot longer. I have arthritis and before the disc issues were picked up I found massage very helpful, last had one in January and miss it but didn’t want to risk squashing things that shouldn’t be!

fertin · 07/08/2023 22:55

I wouldn't find it a treat for me - just hate the idea of being jn such close contact with another person.

If the therapist is knowledgeable , massage can be done despite disk herniation. One has to be careful and judge where to massage and pressure applied. In fact, massage is good for sciatica, but as I'm saying, caution is required. Generally , masseuses in regular massage parlour won't be good for you and they will usually refuse to treat you.
I have medical training specifically for massages and treat variety of health conditions. Arthritis, fibromyalgia, sciatica respond well to targeted massage.
Send me a PM if you wish.

Treating yourself to regular massages sounds like a fantastic idea! Not OTT at all – it's all about self-care, right? 🌟 And you're right; there are heaps of benefits like stress relief, better sleep, and improved circulation. Once a month sounds like a sweet spot for that rejuvenating fix. Oh, and speaking of which, you might wanna check out solidmassage.com – they've got some awesome options that could totally fit the bill.

No my husband does it for free.
I wouldn't want to pay someone else to put their hands all over me personally.
