Is it just the law that around this time on a Sunday night you feel an overwhelming sadness and almost nostalgic feeling? Can't just be me surely?

Definitely not just you. We call it the Sunday night blues.

Yep. It’s the Sunday Sads in our house.

Yep Sunday blues usually starts any time from 4pm for me. It sucks.

I've only ever felt that way when I've been miserable at work or there's been something underlying going on.

I have always felt it even as a child.

Yes, it's the complete opposite of 'that Friday Feeling'.

I used to feel like this all the time not so much anymore

do have VERY busy work weeks with lots of commuting etc ? I felt like this on a Sunday when I worked in central London when I had a train and tube commute so glad I don’t do that anymore lol

I rarely drink alcohol but did last night at a wedding. I have that feeling magnified by one hundred tonight. Am dreading tomorrow, am feeling so low and tired. I find being teetotal which I usually am, regulates my emotions and prevents the highs and lows. I usually play tennis on Sunday nights and finish the weekend with a positive mindset.

Had last week off, I know a few things have happened when I was off. Have a huge feeling of dread, am resisting logging on my laptop this evening to sift my emails.

Oh same, I have a raging hangover and a massive work presentation on Thursday which I have put off doing. So dreading the week ahead and yes multiplied by 100.

Sunday blues.

Worse after a holiday. Sure sign of not being happy in your job.

its very common and its not necessarily connected to the now

For me its a hangover from the sort of excitement but also anxiety and anticipation of going backk to school on the Monday, its so overwhelming it drags me down.

My OH gets it too, neither of us dislike our jobs

I retired in the Summer so no longer feel the Sunday evening blues, but when I was working the theme tune of Countryfile used to make me feel so depressed!

Its the antiques roadshow for me as that was on Sunday early evening when I was at school.

I absolutely hate that feeling. In the 80's I was a termly boarder and I can still recall that awful feeling of dread.
I used to have it working a 9-5 management job. The Sunday night panic about Mondays emails and meetings.
I became a nurse last year at 51. Because of my shifts I work across the 7 days so my 'weekend' doesn't exist.
A combination of that, loving my job and a different kind of stress means I no longer have that feeling. So nice!

Yep I’ve always had it too from a young age. I hate Sunday evenings.

Absolutely 100% understand. Just actually got into bed and hid under the covers for 10 mins, before forcing myself back up to deal with all the Sunday night shite!

I love this!

As I child I had chronic sunday night syndrome. Wild. Not so much as an adult as I like the fresh new week anticipation.

In some ways its comforting but not comforting.

Brings back memories of sat near the gas fire in my nightie (not too close, flammable material), knowing it was bed time soon and then school tomorrow.

I was just thinking about the Sunday blues, this morning. Sundays were coloured by the dread of Monday morning ever since I was at school. They remained throughout most of my working life.

Now, however, I work from home doing things that I enjoy (most of the time). I still have the echo of the old Sunday feeling, but it has no substance.

Like others, it is really pleasant when the feeling has gone.

Yup, takes me back to not wanting to go to school and hating my job. Now I really enjoy my job so the blues have gone and Sunday night is the same as any other night. Think about what you can change.

Report
Neverfullycharged · 25/09/2022 20:38

Definitely. I like my job. I enjoy being at work, and my commute is only twenty minutes. Plus I only do Monday-tuesday-Wednesday. I still get a bit of Sunday-itis!
