To think Kwasi is unhinged / on drugs?!

So, following on from several threads discussing today's bizarre budget, I went and googled to find some footage of him at the Queen's funeral which someone had mentioned.

If you've not seen it, take a look. WTF?!

www.independent.co.uk/tv/news/queen-elizabeth-kwasi-kwarteng-chancellor-b2172746.html

Is this man unhinged, on drugs or just plain disrespectful? Any of these might also explain today's budget.....

he might suddenly have decided that a week into one of the highest offices of state and at HMQ's funeral that he's going to get off his face on ketamine

Walks like a duck, quacks like a duck etc that’s the problem with what we’re seeing. You knowing him is neither her nor there, he may be bright but that doesn’t necessarily mean he’s upto the job of chancellor. The £ is massively tanking and that has a HUGE effect on all of us. That has happened today, as a direct result of his budget, so he’s not looking very bright to me.

inappropriateraspberry · 23/09/2022 22:00

Peso's my favourite.

Motorcycleemptyness · 23/09/2022 22:04

Honestly quite a lot of that funeral was like tripping and that was just watching it on the telly. Being that was probably like being high as balls whether you’d taken anything or not.

All Tories (incl those who vote for them) are cunts though so 🤷🏼‍♀️

LizzieSiddal · 23/09/2022 22:58

I do wonder if it’s some kind made up video, is it called deep fake? It’s probably the Russians or maybe Chinese trying to unhinge us all.

<I will admit I’ve been watching The Capture on BBC.>

NashvilleQueen · 23/09/2022 23:21

I didn't say he's up to the job of Chancellor. There's no doubt he's academically gifted. That doesn't mean he's a good politician. I said he's not a drug user.

Well exactly. Why the fuck is 'Mr Brilliant' behaving like a bloody idiot over the pound? And everything else?

I worked in finance, at the lower end. I know people who are at the middle and top. The drug use is high, as are the suicide attempts, the need for prescription drugs, the full mental health breakdowns etc. If you know people like Kwasi, then you surely know that and know that you can't vouch for anyone "because you knew them years ago".

As I said on the other thread, I actually want Boris back. Because these two (Truss and Kwarteng) are another level of dreadfulness.

Bollocks to that. It doesn’t matter if their figurehead is a bolshy bullshitter or vapid automaton this is a collective Tory problem not solvable by swapping out individuals.

This current deformed incarnation of the Tory party is unrecognisable politically.

I understand where you are coming from - I too watched The Capture.
Scary stuff.

Missgemini · 24/09/2022 08:56

There’s a lot of ignorance here. Assuming that the video is not fake, I would say he is neuroatypical in some way. I know someone who is exactly like this from a young age. Not related to drug use, but really struggles with staying still. Always fidgeting and daydreaming when in situations where silence is expected. I’ve always guessed ADHD, but they’ve never been properly assessed by experts.

derxa · 24/09/2022 09:17

I've always thought that he's extremely attractive. Sorry...

I’m not sure it’s necessarily less ignorant to assume any sort of condition either tbh. It’s still making assumptions based on very little.

I can see that, he’s very pleasing to the eye. Personally though I’ve got the reverse of that phenomenon when someone is unattractive in some way but their personality makes them incredibly attractive. X-factor I suppose. KK doesn’t have that for me.

indecisivewoman81 · 24/09/2022 10:09

I was wondering whether he might have Tourette's. He looks totally unable to sit still and compose himself and using his hands on face and body movement to perhaps self soothe

Missgemini · 24/09/2022 10:18

@Cornettoninja as I said, watching that twitter video reminds me a lot about someone I know in real life. He constantly gets judged for it even though he can’t help it.
People piling on and saying that he’s on drugs or disrespectful to the Queen is much worse than my assumption, but thanks for your comment.

Missgemini · 24/09/2022 10:19

@indecisivewoman81 Yes, I was thinking along the neuroatypical lines too. Occasions like sitting still in a cathedral does not work well for people with these conditions.

Cornettoninja · 24/09/2022 10:33

@Missgemini fair enough.

I maintain that speculation of drugs/disrespect/neuro diversity etc. are all equally speculative and in their own ways ignorant. Speculating on neuro diversity is seeking to claim sympathy and justification as part of a demographic that the individual themselves hasn’t sought to identify as part of and a stranger is in no position to advise or support.

Crikeyalmighty · 24/09/2022 15:36

I don't care if someone is neuroatypical in real life , my son hasADHD and at 24 is very clever- he is however highly unsuitable to be chancellor of the exchequer. In my view You need to be level headed, quite dull and consistent - I stand by my view that whether it's Charlie or mental health issues- he's totally unsuitable if he can't contain himself in public.

I suppose there are not many similar situations though, that are high stress/emotion and require sitting absolutely still for so long.
I’m not going to speculate on the exact cause, could be drugs but also it could be a mix of something ND. Eg ADHD with a sensory sensitivity.

Sparklybanana · 24/09/2022 15:52

I voted tory in 2019 because Labour would have been a fucking shit show with Corbyn. He wouldn't have coped with brexit and he wouldn't have coped with covid (or his brother!). However, there are so many reasons why I wouldn't vote for this lot. I disagree with a religious anti- choice health minister, I disagree with reece-mog on all counts. I think UK has more in common with the EU than the US, I think Truss should stop taunting Russia and China and I disagree with this budget even though I benefit out of it. Rich people don't need more money. They aren't going to spend more money where it counts. The bankers don't need more incentives to earn stupid amounts of money. The country is only as well off as its poorest. Whilst I think that people should be encouraged to work to better themselves (there's my Conservative view), he should have done that through subsidised childcare and help to work schemes. Incentives for working, not sticks. There should be subsidised energy bills and grocery shops if you're working but can't earn enough to save after a month. No one should be chosimg between heat and food. Its more important than rich people deciding Maldives or Caribbean with their tax break. That money doesn't stay in this country. Bunch of reprobates.

It doesn't look like he has Tourette's at all to me (I have a child with Tourette's).

Really? I would have thought the House of Commons and many of the meetings politicians have would be exactly like this. At his age, if he knew a funeral would cause him so much stress, he shouldn't have attended.

This makes me think of the infamous Rees-Mogg photo. Given Kwasi’s colleagues I’m inclined to believe that there’s a culture of not giving a shite because they’re so special. I think being on his phone/watch is a good bet.

To think Kwasi is unhinged / on drugs?!
Crikeyalmighty · 24/09/2022 17:38

@Sparklybanana Yes the Tory's struck gold in having an opposition leader who was absolute marmite in 2019. I was able to vote Lib Dem easily- as our MP was already Lib Dem.

They won't be so lucky this time, nor can they claim it's sunlit uplands all the way with Brexit. You still have those who cling to the idea we can be amazing totally on our own but I do think some now realise they were sold a total pup that benefited those with offshore money or involved in asset stripping-or even those who basically wanted reasonably priced tradesmen out the way!

I know many old school Tory's who feel totally alienated by this bunch of slippery, apprentice style ,self interested bunch of financially illiterate numpties.

Whether he's neurodiverse, off his head on drugs or just not very bright, the Pound is tanking. Thats' what matters.

Justkidding55 · 29/09/2022 09:45

If he was neurodiverse or had Tourette’s why have we only ever seen it that one time?
clearly on coke. Sorry but look how it never even got into the media properly- very concerning. If it was a labour MP let alone a chancellor and at the queens funeral they would never work again and it would be discussed for weeks!
we are truly a country under corrupt leadership and no longer have a free press.
