To ask you where your curtains are from?

Currently searching for curtains and really struggling to find anything that works. I'm looking for colour (yellows, blues, teals), with blackout lining and in larger-than-average sizes around 2.2m wide by 2m drop.

I don't want polyester but any ready made cotton curtains I've found on sites like Next and Dunelm are very fuddy duddy and old fashioned - think swirly patterns and checks.

I don't quite have the budget for bespoke, but could stretch to £150-200 per pair.

Please dear mumsnetters, tell me where I can find reasonably-priced ready-made blackout curtains in contemporary designs!

Check your local charity shops - I bought 2 x pairs both 72 x 90 inch for just over a tenner - both Next

Dunelm and B&Q.

Also, lots of cast-offs from relatives, if you have relatives who hold onto that kind of thing. Most of ours are second hand and were free.

If anyone decides to go with made to measure I can recommend Terry's. Had 4 pairs of curtains and a roman blind from them this year and can't fault them.

Avoid Britannia Rose like the plague

I’m lucky enough to have a fabric mill/dyer locally so make all my own curtains and blinds, but it’s definitely worthwhile having a look at eBay/gumtree for sending hand handmade

I have ordered from a website called www.britishmadeinteriors.com before and the curtains were great, they are made to measure though so not as cheap as ready made ones I have had before!

Most curtains & blinds I’ve made myself but got some from the Secret Linen Store sale which are pretty decent. Not quite as well made and pencil pleat not pinch pleat, but decent blackout and nice colour.

Charity shops.

Takes time, but have some really lovely heavy ones to keep the cold out.

Mine are all from dunelm, my livingroom is plain navy, bedroom teal and patterned in dc and spare room. They have 6 or 7 aisles worth at the local store, packets of ready made and lots of fabric for made to measure (some is patterned and some is plain)
