The Queen's guards.

So the coffin is protected by armed servicemen who are prepared to die for the honour of the Queen. A man runs at the coffin and grabs at the Royal Standard - and the guards do nothing - the police jumped him.

Am I missing something here?? Who didn't the guards whoop his ass themselves?

I wondered that too!

QuebecBagnet · 17/09/2022 19:09

I guess they’ve been told not to move and that the police will deal with that sort of thing seeing as the police are there and are trained to arrest people?

QuebecBagnet · 17/09/2022 19:10

I don’t think soldiers are trained to subdue /restrain people as safely as hopefully the police do. Don’t want an over enthusiastic guard spearing someone.

Topseyt123 · 17/09/2022 19:12

That did cross my mind too. After all, they are "guards" so part of the role must be to prevent anything untoward happening to that which they are guarding, even if they are also on a ceremonial duty.

Not sure how easy it is to move quickly in all their garb.

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 17/09/2022 19:13

Because they’re hats would fall off?

Has anyone noticed Charles’ bodyguard with the false arm and ‘bulge’ in his jacket where his real arm is obviously holding a gun?

I was pretty amazed when I noticed that. Made me realise how vulnerable Charles is.

Wasn’t there an attempt of his life years ago?

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 17/09/2022 19:13

Their.

PuttingDownRoots · 17/09/2022 19:14

Soldiers don't have power over civilians. They can actually only request you do something.

No, I did see some clown made a tiktok suggesting everyone had fake arms though Confused

Badgirlriri · 17/09/2022 19:16

I was wondering this too!

They don't have power of arrest over civilians (in the UK).

Big difference.

pinkstripeycat · 17/09/2022 19:31

Despite not looking like they can move, soldiers can run in their uniforms. When they TAB they are running in full kit, carrying a bergen and a personal weapon. Don’t forget, despite looking smart and lovely, these soldiers are are strong, fast, trained killers.
They don’t need to break from post when the police are there. If they were guarding a living member of the Royal family believe me they would move!

pinkstripeycat · 17/09/2022 19:32

Also what Halstead said

@TheLightSideOfTheMoon that's fascinating! Can you please share a link or picture? Do bodyguards/security often do that?

ShirleyJackson · 17/09/2022 19:36

I don’t think the fake arm thing is true, you know…

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 17/09/2022 19:45

I can’t add the video but there’s a few videos on TikTok showing them - a photo won’t do it justice, you need to see the hand not move over time and the arm ‘swing’ oddly. It’s eerie.

There’s also a few of Donald Trump with his security - one of which has two different coloured hands.

Probably not. But it’s interesting to think about.

We don’t run and TAB in those ceremonial uniforms 😂 we use MTP. Ceremonial dress is exactly that it’s ridiculously restrictive.

Love this reply 😂

FindingMeno · 17/09/2022 20:03

They are not just ornaments.
They are active combatant soldiers and they absolutely will protect the royal family if required.
Better the police deal with it, and don't allow the disruption.

www.ladbible.com/news/the-queen-king-charles-bodyguards-fake-hands-20220917.amp.html

this is the most interesting video I can find

CombatBarbie · 17/09/2022 20:11

I wouldn't have moved either as its likely to end up being done for assault on the tosser 🙄 as we have no "powers" in UK. Even to protect the Crown/Monarch.

NOTANUM · 17/09/2022 20:18

That ladbible video is strange on many levels!

HairyKitty · 17/09/2022 20:19

@TheLightSideOfTheMoon i would really love to see a pic of the man with the fake arm, I’ve read about it but was thinking urban myth
