If you were worth 500 million, would you give more than a €15 overpayment for babysitting

Recently did babysitting (like I’m 15 🤣 I’m a teacher and can earn €15-20 per hr for sitting in a huge house for the night-can’t say no! 🤷🏻‍♀️) for a well known face (v nice guy) They paid the hourly fee…wasn’t a huge amount this time through the agency I was with -€12 per hour, then his wife hanged me around €13 over-sort of Leo the change type thing and acted as though I should be forever grateful..I was grateful as they didn’t *Have to do that…but it did make me wonder if I was worth almost half a billion…I’m sure I’d give a fair bit more

@LadyWithLapdog 3 years, or thereabouts.

He was an absolute nightmare to work for.

He sounds like a nightmare :) Someone with money who doesn’t enjoy having the money.

Rich people don’t really appreciate that working people need the money they earn to survive. People like you are just an economic unit and they assume that what you ask for is all you want. If you ask for more they’ll probably pay it happily. I can’t see them being arsed to shop around for a babysitter over a few euros an hour.

“You can afford it”

if I had a pound for every time my oh heard that from his exwife, I’d be richer than him 🤣

MOST normal, everyday people - not just those who are mega wealthy - can afford more than what we’re paying for a coffee, for a cake, a takeaway, a dog walker or personal trainer for example, they pay what they’re asked to. In some cases pay more as a way of thanks. Hairdressers for example.

it isnt true that people who have lots of money look down at people, only arseholes who would look down on others anyway. Many people who have lots of money still know the value of it. Just because “You can afford it” doesn’t give anyone any right or entitlement to whip out a new price list.

nobody is entitled to anything, not lifts, not your time, and not your money.
