Am I not only being unreasonable, but being neurotic in fact?

I'm not going to say what I see wrong with this, but I'm starting to think that I am in fact being unreasonable

Raw and cooked mixed together?

I've noticed the bags being "sticky" lately so if that's your issue I share your issue

That's it precisely. So, in that basket, there was lettuce, spinach, coleslaw, cooked ham, cooked turkey and a big fat raw chicken along with raw pork mince.

But in sealed packets yes? Seriously, yes, neurotic.

goodytwo · 16/09/2022 19:08

This is the 6th time with this company where they have put raw poultry on top of fresh produce.

LifeOfAnxiety · 16/09/2022 19:11

I’m veggie and have horrendous OCD (7 hand washes to make a cheese butty 🙄) and I do see the issue. If you aren’t happy then you shouldn’t accept the delivery. I’d be bothered about the sugar tbh, & I don’t even take sugar, the rest could at least be washed.

That chicken this week is one of the ones in sealed packaging as you cook it in the bag. However, most weeks, I order a chicken and it just comes with cling film around it (not leak proof) and is plonked happily, leaking salmonella, onto the unfortunate tomatoes or lettuce packed underneath it. They did put my lemon in a separate bag though.

That's not ok for me as I see the blood and salmonella contaminating my spinach.

I'm not worried about what's going to be cooked. I'm worried about contamination of cooked produce (or things like the lettuce or spinach) with the raw poultry.

I had no idea that pork mince even existed until today.

Tesco usually put any raw meat in a separate carrier bag before it goes in the basket. I wouldn't like that and would feel the same as you

Xboxbeatbox · 16/09/2022 18:18

Is it cooked chicken in with raw chicken?

The raw is at the bottom so fine. Gravity doesn't go up the way.

Are you serious??!! Every single item is fully covered in plastic!!

Argh sorry I quoted the wrong person. Everyone pearl clutching about raw/cooked is an idiot as every item has at least one layer of plastic around it. This is why the planet is fucked. YABVVVVU

BitOutOfPractice · 16/09/2022 20:26

I’d always put raw food at the bottom in the fridge but tbh I can’t get too worked up about this. I think YABU

TooMuchToDoTooLittleInclination · 16/09/2022 20:30

My delivery arrived today. It looked like it had been thrown in the crate by toddlers!

anytime I get annoyed I just remind myself I'm fortunate to have the money to buy food & that they delivered through Covid.

deep breath.

(no meat, but cleaning products in with fresh food).

Serious question to the people concerned about mixing these items that are all completely sealed in plastic. How many people do you personally know who have been made ill as a result of this type of grocery arrangement? In my entire life I know I've person who had campylobacter (traced to a raw chicken she washed and that was thought to be the source of the infection as no one who ate the cooked chicken got ill) and one person who got salmonella from pate in a farm shop. I'm just intrigued as to what you think this is going to do to you.

To make gyoza. Like tiny little packages of crack. We make them (very easy) and everyone loves them. Also, they look like a lot of work so people are very impressed.

Raw poultry and meat leaking onto the packaging of cooked food and the food therein.

I don't tend to wash tomatoes, cooked ham, cooked turkey. If I rinse leaves, that's not going to kill bacteria. If I make a sandwich handling raw food and then handling bread, butter, spinach and cooked meats, I'm making a lovely little concoction of vomiting.

I think that I've had too many days spent vomiting and wondering why.

Well the chicken is currently cooking, so the pork is on ice shall we say. I ordered beef mince and it was a substitution.

I need the recipe as I sometimes buy them and I love them!

@MrsTerryPratchett I would love to get your recipe for gyoza? From my experience of them they're like a dough or pastry with a filling and fried/deep-fried? I've never eaten them at a restaurant. I've only eaten the chilled or frozen variety and loved them. I'd love to know how to make them properly. Are they Korean food in origin?

Happyhappyday · 20/09/2022 03:12

Gyoza are Japanese, jiaozi (potstickers) are Chinese. If you Google jiaozi recipe and go to the one on the China sichuan food site, they are as close to the ones I learned to make from my BFF’s mom (who is Chinese and an amazing cook) as I’ve see . You can buy pre made wrappers if needed.

Thank you. I'll have a look! I ended up with pork mince which I've never heard of and didn't realise it was a substitution and was kind of wondering what the hell to do with it which is why the other poster suggested gyoza.

BeyondApproach · 20/09/2022 03:50

I'm a shit cook though. Seriously. I'd burn water.
