Just that. It was gut wrenching to watch and it's been in my mind since Sad

I was watching when it happened. He face planted the tiles, it looked awful

It's awful saying this but the fact it was a proper 'face plant'and his knee only bent due to the fact it was on a step will mean it was a 'proper faint' so will be better received from what I remember of DHs days on Palace duties!

EBearhug · 15/09/2022 11:41

The news here in Australia said he's now fine.

QueSyrahSyrah · 15/09/2022 11:42

I've seen a slow-motion online and he seems to put his hands out slightly so hopefully didn't hit his face.

SirChenjins · 15/09/2022 11:44

Poor guy - hope he’s ok. That looks bloody painful.

oldtableleg · 15/09/2022 11:44

no, they change guards every 20 minutes - the 6 hour thing is the change of shifts (4 shifts in each 24 hours).

DancingBudgie · 15/09/2022 11:45

LakieLady · 15/09/2022 11:31

I hope he's ok, but I felt so sorry for him. It was possibly one of the most solemn duties he's ever likely to perform. He'll be mortified.

I hope he doesn't get the piss taken out of him.

He'll have the piss taken out of him forever. It's already started in the military forums. Some of the stuff that's been sent is hilarious to be honest.
As someone upthread mentioned, if it's seen as self inflicted then he'll be tapping the boards to be charged.

Grandeur · 15/09/2022 11:46

I think the guard behind him could have reached out and prevented him from face planting like that. I understand they have protocol to follow but he could have really hurt himself.

Lockheart · 15/09/2022 11:48

He'll be in for a lot of ribbing, but I'm sure he's fine. I've been a parade fainter too. It happens.

QueSyrahSyrah · 15/09/2022 11:50

@Grandeur It looks in the slow-motion version like the other guy had tried to grab the back of him with his free hand but wasn't quite quick enough. Probably restricted by his uniform to a degree too.

MichelleScarn · 15/09/2022 11:51

@Lockheart is the knee bending 'proper'faint something true? Dh may have just been on the windup of me!

YanTanTetheraPetheraPimp · 15/09/2022 11:53

Poor bloke, as someone who faints, especially if I stand for any length of time, I feel for him.

10HailMarys · 15/09/2022 11:58

Gut-wrenching?! People faint all the time. It's normal and common.

A cuppa and a biscuit and he'll be fine.

HappyHamsters · 15/09/2022 11:59

Poor man, I hope no one takes the mick, it could happen to anyone, karma and all that. I wouldnt be surprised if members of the RF and the military have fainted with all the stress, lack of sleep, emotions, walking around, heavy uniforms.

Antarcticant · 15/09/2022 12:05

It was just worrying that he seemed to fall onto the stone floor from the height of the section of catafalque he was standing on.

picklemewalnuts · 15/09/2022 12:06

It wasn't the faint that bothered me- folding to the floor is relatively safe. I fainted off a chair and didn't hit the floor hard as it was more of a slide.

He fainted off a step and hit the stone with his head. That was the ouch bit.

EddieHowesBlackandWhiteArmy · 15/09/2022 12:12

It looked like he hit his face with some force. Poor sod.

A faint from height onto a stone floor can be very dangerous at worst and extremely painful at best, as I’m sure you know really.

PolkaDotMankini · 15/09/2022 12:17

I'm sure he'll be fine but his mates will never let him forget it.

InPraiseOfBacchus · 15/09/2022 12:17

They've taken him outside to be ceremonially executed.

TheyreOnlyNoodlesMichael · 15/09/2022 12:24

"Gut wrenching"? Really?

GobbolinoTheWitchesCat · 15/09/2022 12:25

When pp talk about him being charged, you mean a disciplinary?

toooldtodate · 15/09/2022 12:26

If you are military then you'll know

Standing in one stance without moving for a period of times can cause fainting as blood pools in the feet and away from the brain - gravity and all

That's why you will see military periodically called to attention and at ease to ensure they move

SirChenjins · 15/09/2022 12:27

TheyreOnlyNoodlesMichael · 15/09/2022 12:24

"Gut wrenching"? Really?

Yep.

Georgeskitchen · 15/09/2022 12:34

He'll be fine . Lots of paraesthesia have fainters, generally not so publicly though. His mates will be ribbing him from here to Kingdom come and back again.
He'll be an absolute legend

@sparepantsandtoothbrush

Why does the OP want an update on the health and well-being of a total stranger

Very weird and unreasonable

What an odd thing to say. Do you not care about other people? Would you walk past a person lying in the street because they are a stranger?
