To worry that things will kick off in London this week?

By that I mean civil unrest? I certainly hope not but is it a worry given the simmering tension around things like peaceful protesters being warned they'd be arrested, people being reminded they're living in an incredibly unequal society during a cost of living crisis, the anger surrounding the police shooting of an unarmed man recently etc.

I image police officers are being drafted in from all over the country in near record numbers, but is anyone else worried a few heavy handed arrests over the next few days could actually tip the balance into serious disorder?

Not sure what nonsense you are talking about

I can assure you the levels of immigration are much much lower as are the levels of poverty in the places I have mentioned mentioned above - maybe you do not know London very well and are not aware of the political divides and social divides and the divisions within the political divides

And being of mixed heritage myself family from Asia, mixed family and friends, colleagues I am well aware of the levels of immigration

Some might not be happy not yes come across them apart from on social media

I know London very well.

Last time I saw the stats, the Royal Family were estimated to cost £100 million per year - or approx £1.24 per year per person. Less than the price of a cup of coffee each.

By comparison, costs for the last but one US presidential election were over $10 billion. For an event that has to be repeated every four years. And they got Trump!!

I know which I'd rather.

ManagementPlan · 15/09/2022 14:40

I think the security situation must be terrifying for those involved but no, I don't think there'll be civil unrest.

I think people are either really sad about the Queen's death or not that interested and keeping a low profile for a few days.

You're British, innit!

I am not quite sure what point you are making with you stats

An estimated 6.9 billion pounds is being spent. Disgusting.

Most of which is going to pay people I.e. work/jobs

So you equate being British with being sensible, pragmatic and having a good grasp of economics? I'll take that. Thanks.

Not everyone in London is British.

Are you very pretty and married to a rich man?

No. I equate it with misguided tyranny, brutality, torture and idiocy. 😎

You're British, innit
😂 Are people still using "innit" in your little corner of London?

Look, you hate Britain, live in a shit part of town, and busy yourself planning a revolution on MN, presumably from a childhood bedroom plastered with Che posters.

It doesnt have to be this way you know

imissedabit · 15/09/2022 15:36

Don't mind me though. Nothing to see here. I'm busy predicting a riot so don't have time to be engaging in discussion about what might in fact spark a riot.

Yes, they are.

imissedabit · 15/09/2022 15:39

Have you a bigger corner of London? I'm just getting 'corner envy' since I appear to only have a little corner.

Tierne · 15/09/2022 15:46

I know what world you're coming from, I have direct experience of it. It's a world where I know London very well is the problem - you know London very well and you dont have a clue about the rest of the country. If you have corner envy, expand your horizons.

Yes I know not everyone is British half my family isn't as mentioned before and many of my friends/colleagues are not

not sure what being pretty or being married to a rich man has anything to do with my post

imissedabit · 15/09/2022 14:10

Oh and it's believed that your much revered Queen was not from a 'true' line to the thrown. Edward IV was illegitimate. Everyone since him has been from a different line (a swordsman lol).

Well it's a good job that our much revered Queens royal bloodline isn't dependant on her descent from Edward IV then isn't it 🙄

And Blayborne was an archer, not a swordsman.

You don't seem to understand the rules of accession?

Does MN still allow this idiocy to be trotted out when you can't argue a point?

I guess so, when the 'point' the other party is attempting to 'argue' is juvenile goady bollocks.

imissedabit · 15/09/2022 16:10

Basically, Charles is in a line of succession leading back to a mere philandering archer. Not terribly royal.

Well since you seem to think that you'll win the argument, why not argue? Or don't you do that in your corner of the Kingdom?
