To be fucked off by constant Facebook bans!

SuspiciousBanana · 12/09/2022 20:09

my account has been on restricted now for about a year. This followed an post where I told someone they were stupid for believing something about Donald Trump and they reported me for bullying! I literally just said they were stupid for believing it and that’s all. Anyway Facebook agreed I was an abhorrent waste of human tissue and I was banned. In that time I have had nothing but grief and am banned for stuff constantly at the drop of a hat. I got a 7 day ban yesterday for joking about selling my car! In the 2 weeks previous to that I had a ban for a meme I posted 3 years ago, a post from 6 months ago, a post from a week ago. Im under the watch from the bots. It’s constant! Sometimes I can dispute it and 2 minutes later I’m not banned any more because the bots realise it’s bullshit but this time there was no option!

it’s just constant and I continually monitor what I post and go through old posts deleting them but it’s so hard to know what they will pick up in next and almost impossible to go back through 10 years of my posts!

I know when I’m restricted it means it’ll stay that way for 5 years and there’s no way around it!

the problem is I’ve had a very traumatic year and without going into detail I use Facebook to communicate with family and friends who are keen to know How I’m getting on. I do try to keep in touch in other platforms but it is such a nightmare because most people use FB. It’s also affecting my small business.

AIBU to be mightily fucked off with the situation?

I have heard that once you are on their radar it best not to disagree with anyone. I'm guessing another user is going through your posts and reporting them. Personally I would keep your account (and lock it down) and only post to good friends and family. Make another account for the business, I think they are called pages rather than account and only post business stuff on that. Sit on your hands for anything else for a few months. Hopefully the troll or bots go away after that.

Floofboopsnootandbork · 13/09/2022 03:07

Once you’re on their radar there’s no escaping it, no matter how old posts are 😅

I dated someone in 2013 that is now FTM trans. I shared a picture of my friends and I that came up on my memories a few months ago completely blanking that he was in when he was a she. He reported it, the picture got deleted and I got a 7 day ban. Since then it’s been non stop posts getting removed, all of them at least a few years old, today I got a fact check on something I shared in 2017!!! Fb fact check wasn’t even around back then and you’d have to spend hours scrolling my Facebook to even have a chance of seeing that post so it’s absolutely pointless them doing that.

Mate, I got put in Facebook prison for saying I’d rather put Tabasco in my eye than watch love lsland. 🤦‍♀️ I mean, c’mon really?! With all the racist posts on there that exist without any impunity, it seems a bit, well you know. Biased and irregular! I feel ya.

Oh gosh this sounds like my partner! He got banned for telling someone that to continue to use the machine like that he is likely to have his arm ripped off. (which was a legitimate concern given it was heavy machinery and he wasn't using it right) and facebook took that as a threat against him not the warning that it was!

My partner has spent the better part of six months fighting with the bots. He keeps swearing at people and calling them idiots and therefore he keeps getting banned. (usually he's not in the wrong but he could go about it so much better!) He ended up starting a new account but I think because he linked it in to his business page he's still having some problems!

I’m surprised at so many posters being banned by Facebook. Every time I’ve reported racist/hate speech/spam they’ve rejected my complaint. Clearly there’s something wrong with their standards (who knew sexy sofas was a problem?!).

Honestly I think it's certain things get caught by the bots and then the bans start and once one thing is caught they keep monitoring. Whether it's legit or not the people aren't in charge!

expat101 · 13/09/2022 03:20

I'm a mod on a community FB page and its doing weird things. I copped a warning, I had abbreviated DH's first name in a conversation and the fB bots found it as hate speech. Appealed twice, neither was looked at...But you can't call someone stupid.

Our group has a no shaming/naming for whatever reason policy, generally it works well. We ask people to agree to our page rules before we allow them to post, if they don't agree I delete their application to post. We have had our share of weirdos.

I’m an admin in a group and it’s got so stupid now that admins and mods have to post and comment in the group from a separate account unless it’s about admin/mod stuff as us having something reported/removed/banned can lead to the group getting deleted without warning. Also having to censor words like he or she as fb keeps picking them up as hate speech 🥴

SuspiciousBanana · 13/09/2022 06:48

I can’t believe some of this stuff! What a total nightmare for anyone to use it once they’re under scrutiny! Not being able to use he/she is just stupid.

I wonder how it’s possible to block the bots? I’ll have to Google. I use my phone so a VPN won’t work.

Isaidnoalready · 13/09/2022 06:54

You can download your data from Facebook including your photos

WhatsApp instead?

Not everyone uses all the other SM platforms. It seems FB is the main one.

I don’ t use it, just WhatsApp which is really easy.

FitAt50 · 13/09/2022 07:27

Might be interesting to know exactly what you have been posting on Facebook to keep getting banned?

KeepYaHeadUp · 13/09/2022 07:30

SuspiciousBanana · 12/09/2022 20:47

I’m sure my next ban will be 30! ☹️

I wonder if I can get around it by posting a screenshot of text instead of just typing it? Or maybe the bots are able to scan it?

I wish I knew what the trigger words are because I’d not use any of them if I could.

It just makes me so sad that I could lose everything I’ve posted over the years. I use groups and events and marketplace so frequently too. It’s just such a useful platform that I actually find the prospect of having a permanent ban quite daunting.

Why don't you request all your data now? They send you a zip file which has all your photos, posts, messages etc. Then you can have this on your computer and if they do delete your account you haven't lost it all

Meatshake · 13/09/2022 07:34

I'm in a similar spot, I got banned for nudity because of a picture of my daughter in her swimming cozzie on the beach (my Facebook is locked down to about 100 friends and family) and and for threats of violence when I said to a lady selling something on a camping group that "I'd bite her hand off to take that if she was closer ".

I think once your account is flagged the slightest thing triggers a smackdown.

Mums1234 · 13/09/2022 07:34

I can't see anything on Facebook as they want my photo. I refuse to send my photo and now I can't even look at businesses! Everything is banned.

WhatsApp is completely different, it's a messaging app. Facebook is a completely different format and they're used for different things.

I got a thirty day ban for having a joke with a friend where I said "I'll kill you" but with laughing emojis. So it was threats to kill 🥴. They take one word completely out of context. Ridiculous.

They asked for exactly the same from me. It had to be either my passport or driving licence.
I was an admin on a group with three others. We had it set so that all posts had to be approved.
We didn't allow anything political, religious or royalty ( to save rows breaking out )
We'd had five groups banned by FB so we always set up another one ready.
One morning us admins woke up to all four of us being banned! The best is that I was away on holiday at the time and hadn't posted or approved anything for almost a fortnight!
Obviously with us admins being banned nothing could be posted on the group....almost as if they thought, well it's pointless to keep banning the group, so we'll ban the admins instead.
A bit like banning the group by stealth.
We were all asked for ID, we supplied it and got reinstated only for less than a week later to be banned again for reasons unknown.
We supplied the requested ID again, but were told that the ban stays permanently, including any alternative accounts.
We gave up at that point and set up on a different platform with our own website instead.
FB is a waste of space, run by a hypocritical wanker.

HardLanding · 13/09/2022 09:36

I’ve spent more time this year banned than allowed to post.

Memes I posted 5+ years ago are being flagged as bullying. There’s no way to appeal - you can click through to argue it but within minutes another bot will have responded with “we disagree and you’re banned for extra time for appealing it”

I served 30 days for posting a picture of my lunch, which was faggots and pea's, with the caption..... delicious faggots for lunch.
Another got a 7 dayer for this....
🎶 What's new pussycat, woah, woah, woah 🎶
Pussycat is apparently an offensive word, even when it's the lyrics of a song!

Seriously pathetic.

Yes, I've had that. Ban extended for daring to question the ban.
You couldn't make it up!!

PornographicPriestess · 13/09/2022 09:41

I got a ban for calling a racist twat a racist twat. He wasn't banned for his awful comments though.

That's another brain boggler.
You call someone out and you're the one who ends up banned rather than the offender.
It's like locking up the crime victim while the offender walks jauntily on.
How does that work then ?? 🤷

TheFlyingFox · 13/09/2022 10:07

Facebook have lost the plot. They are failing to protect the right people and unfairly penalising others.

I haven't been banned, but I had an advert removed for discrimination, because I asked for a "Female only lodger". This is perfectly legal and is permitted by SpareRoom, etc and was to avoid being harassed by a seemingly never ending succession of men, but no, the advert was banned. FB's algorithm seems not to recognise the right to female only spaces.

An increasing number of my friends have been banned though. Many women posting pictures of their children for "nudity" although they were clothed, just nice normal family photos. People who have posted photos of their animals have been banned for animal cruelty. One friend put up a post of her 5 year old child with her pet rabbit and was inundated by animal rights' activists making appalling comments about her kid and the way he was holding the rabbit (not badly) and she tried reporting some of the worst ones, but you've guessed it, she was told there was nothing wrong with their comments. I reported one of them for repeatedly harassing me, my report failed as it wasn't considered threatning or abusive behaviour and then my advert was banned.

I wonder who on earth FB have got in charge of their algorithms dealing with this at the moment. A bunch of out of control incels? Its certainly beginning to give that impression.
