So the palace has now told people to stop leaving marmalade sarnies and such...

Those who thought it was ok the first time still think it's ok? Or now the palace acknowledges how ‘unsustainable’ it is change your opinion?

FWIW. It was idiotic the first time and still is.

prancing about with a supermarket bouquet

You’ve seen prancing? Wish I had, that must have been highly entertaining.

Did the Egyptians not, do the same with items in the tombs etc, for the afterlife ?

The Ancient Egyptians (who I assume you are referring to) also entombed pets and servants with the deceased monarch. Not sure we want to follow their practices!

I dunno. Queen's first servants would be prime minister and cabinet I suppose ...

Obviously we would cherry pick our preference, but the practice of e.g. Flowers, food items, etc, is not a new perspective, for e.g. How people are with leaving gifts for the queen, in the afterlife.

😂

That could be because they don't to be invaded by rats the size of dogs.

So the Queen did one sketch with Paddington Bear and now people have decided she would ry appreciate a sandwhich tribute?!

This week has seriously made me want to emigrate more than I already did. Some British people are seriously off the fucking map.

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 12/09/2022 19:33

Can't there be a website set up to pay for digital flowers or something? Like £5 for digital flowers, £2 for a digital teddy, £10 for bloody sandwich or whatever. Then it tallies on the front page how many have been bought in total and the royal family sees it. All proceeds from the sales to charity of whatever choice. And you get a link when you buy so you can showcase your buying on social media for those wanting to look good 😂

Lordofmyflies · 12/09/2022 17:35

Its absolutely barmy! Thank god she didn't do a sketch with a pepperami. I wish the Palace had announced a donation line or fund people could donate to which would provide a number of new hospitals or hospices in her memory. Instead, we have rotting sandwiches and mulched flowers.

A pepperami 🤣 "It's a bit of animal"

OnlyEverAutumn · 12/09/2022 19:37

@Sparklybutold youre spot on about the optics. The royals need all this sycophantic nonsense - it’s what makes them feel relevant.

Hmm maybe not such a bad idea...... I could get behind sacrificing that lot but draw the line at the corgis!

Hoppinggreen · 12/09/2022 19:40

Quietly donating money to charity isn’t likely to get you on The Telly though is it?

CactusBlossom · 12/09/2022 19:42

Surtsey · 12/09/2022 14:57

As a one-off the first time, it was inspired.

But for other people to do it, then food left lying about will just encourage rats and urban foxes.

Give them to the MPs for their subsidised canteen...

Hawkins001 · 12/09/2022 18:23

Not to mention the Chinese terracotta warriors.
How about a terracotta set of MPs?

CactusBlossom · 12/09/2022 19:47

brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr · 12/09/2022 17:24

Just think it’s hilariously scurrilous to leave a tribute of BROWN BREAD

Oh @brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr that is so true! Lol!

Trainbear · 12/09/2022 19:58

Typical soggy teddy parade of makeshift shrines. Ugh

mycatisannoying · 12/09/2022 20:23

God, what an imbecilic thing to do.

Certainly a modern version, for historians, years ahead.

Thinkingblonde · 12/09/2022 20:57

I donated the cost of a bouquet of flowers to a local youth club for children and teens with Autism.

Digital flower tribute! That's a great idea! And then the money could be donated to plant some actual trees or provide actual marmalade doe bears or whatever.

mum2jakie · 12/09/2022 21:28

It's surprising the palace hasn't promoted something like this:

shop.queensgreencanopy.org/products/in-memoriam

OnlyEverAutumn · 12/09/2022 21:30

@mum2jakie that won’t work for the public image . . .

sst1234 · 12/09/2022 21:55

Why are people so stupid? Genuine question. Just why?

sunglassesonthetable · 12/09/2022 22:00
