To think that I am not cut out for modern life

I suppose should say this is light hearted but I don’t feel light hearted!

I decided to clean my fridge this morning because, clearly, I know how to have a good time.

I fought valiantly to get all the shelves and drawers out. But now that they are all sparklingly clean, I cannot, for the life of me, get them back into the bastard fridge and it’s just all too much.

The only solution I can think of is to retire to a nice quiet convent somewhere on a remote island where I will never have to see, let alone clean, a fridge again.

I am 100 % certain I am not being unreasonable …

A time machine is the only answer. You should go live on lindesfarne in 1380 and stay permanently drunk on mead until the whole thing blows over.

I deep cleaned mine for the first time in years a few weeks back and when I took one drawer out the bastard runner thing pinged off. It's a bloody massive American fridge freezer as well and the whole cleaning out process took about 3 hours (I smelled some things that nobody should ever smell). I remember siting on my soggy floor crying and whacking the fucker with a hammer for a good 20 minutes but you will be pleased to know I got the fucker back on (not sure about the structural integrity but zero fucks). Dont give up! (I wouldnt recommend a hammer for the shelves tho)

There is nothing a bit of bicarb can't fix.

I'm not sure how as I dare not move my shelves, the slattern that I am, but bicarb fixes everything. Apparently.

Bicarb, a hammer and a time machine have all gone on my shopping list :).

I find it difficult to clean the lower shelves of my fridge and then get up again Grin

That’s an easy one to solve - either a) don’t clean them, or b) stay down there but prepare beforehand with some cushions, blankets, reading materials and sustenance :).

The shelves I have just about mastered, but the drawers get me every time which is now not very often. Must have been designed by a man.

@Wenwes Grin ... good excuse not to clean my fridge.

FlowerArranger · 13/09/2022 21:14

@Wenwes - for future reference... clean the fridge one shelf/drawer at a time, working from the top down. This way you may remember how to slot them back in again, rather than being faced with a jumble of bits & pieces at the end.

@chocolateday - I highly recommend this for getting to a point where you can crouch and get back up again 😄
