To ask why the Met are at Balmoral?

Have watched some of the coverage and can’t help but notice that the police around Balmoral seem to be Metropolitan officers?

Is that right? Why aren’t the local Scottish officers there? Is that because of the death of the queen? How did they get them up there so quickly?

I’ve clearly thought about this too much.

Given that a huge number of the Royal Family are there then there must be a huge protection and security issue

They knew she was fading fast by the morning (maybe night before), so part of the hold off all day - even when she’d v clearly died - was to get the RF, police etc up there

You had the entire RF in one place at a high profile moment. Obviously they are often together but security is organised in advance. London is going to be the place with the biggest number of appropriately trained officers if you need to get something together quickly

Oh sorry right in that case they must have been there already.

You might not know this but officers from Police Scotland are often sent down to England. If there are big events or demonstrations happening officers across Britain have to head to london. Also, there is a police station in Glasgow that is used to hold suspected terrorists regardless of what part of mainland Britain they have been arrested.
