CF child keeps coming round to play on xbox

I have an Xbox series X it's my game console and I sometimes play on it after DD goes to bed. DD has little interest playing it. I let the neighbours child have a go one day on the weekend he keeps knocking round everyday to play on it. I'm having a really stressful time at the moment he doesn't seem to get the hint. How do I tell this child he's not coming to play on my Xbox everyday ?

So he's knocking and asking to play on the xbox then you are saying yes and letting him in and somehow he's a cheeky fucker? Kids are shit at hints generally your dd is an exception not the norm.

Kids couldn't care less about hints. All he thinks is wow there's and x box at this house and they let me play it. If you say no and don't let him he will eventually get the message.

I voted YABU because you don't hint you just say no.

How old is he?

Ffs just say no

Craftybodger · 08/09/2022 23:45

I don’t think he’s really a CF, he just needs boundaries.

I would move it out of the living room and explain that it’s yours and has been moved, so it won’t be possible for him to use it any more but he’s welcome to visit your DC.

Tell him not on weekdays

Twawmyarse · 09/09/2022 00:33

I don't think a child who is excited about the chance to play on an xbox if he doesn't have one is a CF - I'd be feeling a bit sorry for him.

Thats not to say you're wrong in not wanting him round all the time - he's obvs got the wrong end of the stick or just thinks he'll chance his arm anyway! Agree with others, just firmly say "No, not today sorry love" or tell him it's broken. Failing that have a word with his parents.

He rarely knocks on for DD maybe 1 day a week at the weekend. He's now knocking on everyday not to play with DD but to play on my Xbox which is cheeky.

It isn’t cheeky, because you keep saying yes and he thinks you don’t mind. He is a child. He doesn’t understand that it’s inconveniencing you. Be a bloody adult and tell him he can’t keep coming round to play XBox because you can’t have someone else’s child in your house all the time.

This thread is so annoying. Especially the number of people who think you should lie! To a child! Because you're too much of a wimp to set boundaries! Get it together please, adults.

CakeMonster1 · 09/09/2022 20:09

No mention of the age of this child, perhaps a word with his parents (drop it in a chat) that it's not really on, to be honest though you need to be clear and consistent. From the start you should have nipped it in the bud when he started coming every weekday wanting to play on Ur games console and just ignore your CF as clearly it's not your CF at all, this neighbours child is using it as a free source of entertainment saving his/hers parents a fortune on buying one themselves.

Just tell him no, it's has to stop. You don't need to be cruel, just be honest and say it's not ideal.
