I’m probably being dim but I don’t get it…

Oh! 😆

J0y · 09/09/2022 12:40

Jane Jeffer is funny, wish id thought of it!

Foxytocin was another one that made me admire the sheer devilish cleverness

I find it reassuring when I try and check if any music/books/tv references are available, and find they’re gone. It just means someone else loves them just as much as I do!

Some of the names shared in this thread are just genius!

Yes, I know what you mean, though I was still sad that PotatoesOfTheNight was taken. And I’ve never actually seen them post. Tut.

Love SirChenJin and Jesusinthecabbagevan.
Also love Pyongyangkipperbang because I love the film.

SurreyHillsinspring · 09/09/2022 12:48

Captainmummy can't get any more senior than that, impressive.

AtYourCervix was great.

But the only username that has stayed in my mind was @MorrisZapp (not sure if she is even here anymore), because she once stuck up for me, in a very kind way, on a very old thread when I was under a different username and everyone else was piling on me. Also it turned out that she and I were (unfortunately) right about that situation.

Oh bless you! I'm here always, throughout time, across the generations, through fifteen Prime Ministers etc etc etc

That’s long been a favourite. As has something like @MaudGonneMad? And @UterusUterusGhali.

Also kudos to @MorrisZapp, who is both nice and usually very sensible, plus there’s something hilarious about a leery fictional Austen scholar dispensing sage advice on how to quash a violent crush on an unsuspecting friend.

(@MorrisZapp, I tried to take your advice on letting it wash over me and enjoying it, with your example in mind, but even though I’ve dropped three dress sizes and people keep telling me I look great, the bloody thing hasn’t diminished in the slightest, despite my best efforts, a full seven months on…)

Keep crushing! I'm over it and putting the pounds back on, must say I do like the quiet life (and the double chocolate magnums)

Be a love and explain Jane Jeffers? Sadly I'm Scottish.

MorrisZapp · 09/09/2022 13:06

Too many usernames to mention, TapirBackRider and FlyMeToDunoon being two bangers that come to mind.

NutsaremyNemesis · 09/09/2022 13:11

You always know there will be sage and direct advice when @anyfucker wades in; @cutteduppear is one of my favourites - it always makes me smile and remember with fondness the toddler years and their cute language / mispronunciations. Our kids are older now and refuse to eat “kingcumbers” and the like but DH and I still eat cutted up pear ;-)

prettyteapotsplease · 09/09/2022 13:13

There have been some great usernames on here which I haven't seen for a while, Kitty by the Lighthouse and Veterinari to name but two. Sadly, mine isn't one of them.

JaneJeffer · 09/09/2022 13:21

@MorrisZapp déan deifir means hurry up in Irish and my name is the pronunciation of that in English

AgnestaVipers · 09/09/2022 13:30

^Thanks for explaining it! I wasn't sure either.

Brilliant, thank you!

I've always loved AnneLovesGilbert, not because it's funny, but because of the reference to Anne of Green Gables!
