Saw a documentary on Sky Arts on the making of the album Hysteria. Fascinating! And I never really appreciated until now just what a fantastic album it is. Here's an example:

Hysteria - what an absolute classic

My favourite band in the world 🙂

Been a fan since 1979, and am just back from a long weekend in LA to see them on the Stadium Tour with Motley Crue, Poison and Joan Jett 😎

My Fav too! Saw them twice years ago and they were amazing. My DD and partner went to see the Stadium Tour as well and said they were fantastic! Love that the younger generation loves them too. They have gone through so many tragedies and still keep going, love them!

jcyclops · 07/09/2022 16:00

I first saw them 43 years ago in September 1979 at Hillsborough Park, Sheffield (other acts on the day included Chas & Dave, The Nolans and Dollar), and have followed them ever since. My favourite gig was in the round in June 1992.

Maray1967 · 07/09/2022 17:09

DH and I regard them as our band as we’re from their home city. We saw them on pyromania and hysteria tours and again in the early 90s and then a few years ago on the hysteria anniversary tour. Great gig but I couldn’t cope with folks wanting to sit down nicely. Although on one of their Sheffield city hall gigs in the 80s we think we were near their parents who were all sitting down!

Lalalolol · 07/09/2022 17:26

YANBU. They are amazing

Bonjovispjs · 07/09/2022 17:43

Ah, the memories 🥰 loved them back in the 90s and fancied the pants of Joe Elliott, saw them live a few times, happy times.

TheVanguardSix · 10/09/2022 14:27

Photograph!
I was 11 and growing up on American MTV when it came out.
The song and Joe Elliott wearing his Union Jack top in the video gave me fanny gallops before I even knew what fanny gallops were.
That track still kicks total ass.

Love Def Leppard but was so disappointed when we saw them live just before covid. Joe Elliot didn't even try. Bloke just stood still hanging onto the mic stand while he sang Pour Some Sugar On Me. Never managed to get the crowd going.
If you like Def Leppard then you need to try Thunder. Cracking band and brilliant live.

Thunder are one of my favourites. Seen them loads and met the band a couple of times. If you get a chance go and see Danny & Luke acoustic.

Funkyslippers · 06/09/2022 18:22

Van34 oh that's very disappointing! I saw Thunder in 1990 supporting Heart (my fave band of all time), they were very good. Felt very old recently however when I saw them on TV. The lead singer used to have long brown hair - he's now completely bald!

Danny Bowes isn't bald 😂

I'm so bloody jealous.

What an amazing line up

I’ve liked them since my teens and saw them live a few years ago after waiting 30 years to see them. Cheap Trick we’re supporting too. Neither disappointed 🥰

I saw that your in Cardiff

RaininginDarling · 10/09/2022 20:45

We saw DL on a double header with Motley Crue several years ago (think 2012).I'm a big fan of both. Joe doesn't have the amazing vocals any more to carry those anthemic songs, which is sad but not surprising. Motley Crue, on the other hand, sound as good as they did in the Eighties. Clearly they have struck a deal at a crossroads somewhere.

Funkyslippers · 06/09/2022 20:17

StarCourt I definitely saw them support Heart in 1990 as it was Heart's Brigade tour

Same!

ItsAlwaysThere · 10/09/2022 20:51

They're pretty good, the old stuff is great. Fun live.

StarCourt · 10/09/2022 20:54

@jcyclops yes I saw them
In the round too I think Gunn were supporting them.

Chardonnay73 · 10/09/2022 20:59

Back in 1988, my ‘boyfriend’ who was 24 (I was 16 😱 but he was very respectful and never laid a finger on me, we were just mates) had a Ford Capri and I remember him driving me round in it and playing this.. I thought I was SO cool!
if I hear it now I get shivers and remember some really happy times 😊

Funkyslippers · 11/09/2022 16:26

Bottomofthepileasusual yes you're right, he's just very grey now (I can't talk much either!) and hair very short. When he was interviewed on TV I think the lighting made him look bald 🤣 but I stand corrected

He's super nice too.

He's got a head injury atm I believe.

One of my fave bands. Didn’t know there was a documentary about the making of Hysteria, it’s such a great album. I will be on that later this evening. Thanks OP👍🏻.
