These are the same comments and themes that were said about Boris, would have been said about Rishi and will be said about anyone just because they are ‘Tories’

Actually, Liz's big problem is that so many of the things said about her here couldn't have been said about Boris. She's taking the helm in a much worse position than he did, which is saying something given that the UK in 2019 was hardly a utopia. And if she or anyone around her has any sense, they'll understand this and try to act accordingly. If they indulge themselves in the sort of right wing cope you come out with here, she'll be lucky to make it to the next GE.

And thanks @54isanopendoor!

Let’s see.

Speaking of Raab, he went from having something to say on everything to radio silence the second the leadership contest started. Waiting for him to resurface like an oily turd when he thinks the time is right.

He isn't worth patronage, not with that dead man walking constituency.

TheABC · 05/09/2022 15:36

I am willing to wait, watch and see but given her track record, my expectations are very low.

If she manages to stick to her own rules (unlike Johnson) and avoid outright lies (unlike Johnson), then we will be off to a good start.

She's got an energy crisis, multiple industrial strikes, a brewing trade war and an actual European war to navigate. Good luck with that lot!

Lozzerbmc · 05/09/2022 15:36

Utter nightmare I couldn’t bear to watch anymore after they announced her name. New cabinet have been chosen to make her look better so we are completely and utterly doomed. I could never imagine a worse prime minister than Boris yet here we are!. Shaggers rule! Coalition government awaits (if we havent frozen to death by then).

balalake · 05/09/2022 15:38

Comparing Dominic Raab to a turd is very unfair. Excrement has a purpose and is useful.

Let's hope he is out of the cabinet, along with Priti Patel, Jacob Rees-Mogg and Suella Braverman.

the80sweregreat · 05/09/2022 15:30

She's going to borrow borrow borrow / tax cuts.
I hope that those who demean the LP for doing this borrowing historically remember these days and remind the tories who is doing the borrowing ! Then play Phillip Hammond's interview with Sophy Ridge to remind them a bit more. He spoke sense ; Truss is following the economist Patrick Minford and it seems it won't work. Plus to add to her woes , the party is divided again too
Tough times are ahead

Of course they won't. Once the Tories are done increasing taxes and borrowing and have bankrupted us all, it will still be Labour's fault.

the80sweregreat · 05/09/2022 15:43

Oh, she's got a lot to sort out and the civil servants are already being demonized by her , the brits are told we don't work hard enough and energy prices are rocketing.
Plus the faces around her are mostly the ERG
It is a nightmare all round if your not a right wing head banger or very rich.
If they try to pin any of this on the opposition then that really is the cowards way out.
They probably will though! That's the sad thing
Luckily the way things are timed and recorded and with Social media the way it is, maybe they won't be able to get away with this as much as they did before.

The press screwed any chance of Rishi winning with the don tom tax stuff, making it look like his wife had robbed the country of millions. Most of the country would not be aware of the fact that she would be taxed on any money that she brought into the UK but seeing as her investment and income is out of the UK and stays out of the UK no tax was actually due.

the press have caused so much damage over the years with damaging headlines and missing out the FACTS!

Culldesack · 05/09/2022 15:49

Excellent. The third female Tory MP. Remind me how many Labour have had.

Having a free press is so inconvenient, isn't it?

Honestly though, even if his wife weren't a non-dom I still think the billionaire thing would've been enough to rule him out. It would be such a massive target on his back when we have a cost of living crisis, an open goal any time anyone said anything about housing, food, fuel. Rishi was screwed as soon as that started.

Goatsanddogs · 05/09/2022 15:54

I am going to give her a chance before I get all depressed about the government. She doesn’t speak as well as predecessors but all I am interested in is if she can help our country get back on its feet while being fair to all .

GaffNest · 05/09/2022 15:55

Most uninspiring choice in history.

A leader she ain’t.

A dull, drab, poundland Thatcher, she’s so far out of her depth it’s embarrassing.

Politicians lie. It’s what they do. But at least have someone competent in charge while doing so, and that was Sunak.

Sturgeon will be happy with the little englander though as that’s Scottish Independence now nailed on.

fromdownwest · 05/09/2022 13:52

Please elaborate?
How many world wars?
Inflation levels?

I am no fan of his, but by no means did the end of the world predictions come true.

End of world is a turn of phrase by the way, not literal

If you think Trump was fine and dandy please carry on, it's not my job to educate you.

Blossomtoes · 05/09/2022 15:58

Liz’s plans for tackling the energy bills crisis are discussed in detail

They are indeed. Strangely they look exactly like Starmer’s. Funny that.

BlackForestCake · 05/09/2022 15:59

If Sunak were cunning he would come back with a woke argument and say that his wife paying tax in Britain would be taxing money earned in India by Indians for the benefit of Britain, and thus a continuation of evil colonialism.

Suetwo · 05/09/2022 15:59

Weird to think that when she was 10-years-old she was living in Scotland with her Socialist parents, yet she grows up to be the Conservative Prime Minister.

Culldesack · 05/09/2022 16:00

So much female solidarity from the feminists 🤔

WatchoRulo · 05/09/2022 16:00

"all I am interested in is if she can help our country get back on its feet while being fair to all"
Not a chance - she has openly stated she is much more interested in tax cuts for wealthy people than fairness.

reesewithoutaspoon · 05/09/2022 16:01

Think rishi fucked up when it became obvious he had been plotting for a while for the top job. Dirty dealings aren't necessarily verboten within government. But he got caught out and that's just sloppy

What a load of pish - feminism isn't about supporting the morally bankrupt just because they are female.

Aye, I'm sure that would've gone down fabulously amongst the Tory membership. They're notoriously receptive to that kind of idea.

This inane logic is fast becoming the last refuge of scoundrels.

vera99 · 05/09/2022 16:02

Maggie , maggie , maggie, out, out, out was a good chant and scanned well

Lizzie, Lizzie, Lizzie personalises her too much and Truss, Truss, Truss sounds like a comedy dog asking for sausages. The mob will need to get thinking.

No 10 LIVE -listen for Steve Bray's speaker in the background.

So if we think she’s a terrible human being and/or will be a shite PM we should support her because she’s a woman?
I actually find that quite anti feminist- judge people on their merits NOT their sex
