For the first time since the start of the pandemic, DH will be working back in the office from tomorrow. Hurrah!

It has just dawned on me that I’ll be able to go back to my grazing ways… no longer will we have to have a ‘proper’ lunch, I can simply have beans on toast… overnight oats and an apple… whatever I want!

I feel like ordering a supermarket delivery for tomorrow morning!

Am I being unreasonable?

I'm not sure why you need to have the same eating habits as your husband. You know you're allowed to eat separate meals right?

Me and dh are retired.
I graze, he makes his own lunch. I have never felt the need to have a 'proper' lunch with him.

Why did you have to eat what he ate?

Eh? It’s been two and a half years and you haven’t built your own routines?

I'm surprised that you lose weight grazing as opposed to eating full meals. I'm the complete opposite and wfh with access to food whenever I want has caused me to put weight on.

What does a 'proper' lunch entail?

You never needed to do that in the first place Confused

What does a 'proper' lunch entail?

I thought that cos I would've classed beans on toast as proper lunch!

There have been so many threads on here about how when a man and woman move in together, the woman puts on weight because the lighter evening meals she may be happy with, aren’t enough for her DH.

So I guess this is an extension of the same thing.

Been here 6 years and never ever seen a thread of that!

Why wouldn’t you just eat the lighter evening meals anyway and he can have a larger portion or something on the side?

what an odd take 😂

Yeah this, me and my DP both work from home and never eat lunch together!

I don't know why other posters are being obtuse. When I lived on my own I'd happily eat a cheese toastie for dinner but when my sister moved in I was more inclined to cook proper meals and eat them with her.

Posted too soon, so it stands to reason that if OP and her husband were together at lunchtimes she'd be more inclined to eat something more substantial than if she were just pottering about on her own.

No it doesn't stand to reason at all, what an odd thing to say.

The OP never 'had to have a proper lunch' if she didn't want one.

Yeah this reminds me of those threads where women talk about how they love it when their husbands work away, or being single, because they can now eat what they want, eg beans on toast etc. They can watch what they want, they can wear slobby clothes.
You should be able to do these things anyway! Confused

I have always eaten what I wanted! Sometimes we'd eat together if we wanted the same thing, most times we'd make our own food. I can't imagine my food being dictated by someone else (beyond childhood)

I don't get this either. I just eat what I want for breakfast AND lunch... (I WFH) and DH has what HE wants for lunch too (when he is at home... he WFH half the time.) We have different food for dinner too sometimes. We aren't a hive mind ... Strange thread!

I've never seen this posted on mn, not even once.

Your husband is not responsible for what you choose to put in your mouth.

Hey OP I totally get you. I WFH all week and huby WFH 2 days a week. On the days he is at home one of us will prepare lunch and we will sit down to eat together whereas when I am on my own I like to graze. I feel like I make more effort to have a proper lunch when he is at home. He says the same as when I am occasionally in the office he will just graze as well.

This happens to me too OP. On my own I make do with whatever’s around. My husband buys nicer more substantial meals or even cooks for us. Yes, I’m responsible for my stuff but it’s easy not to eat the things I don’t buy! Harder when it’s right in front of you and will save you time…

it’s not a big deal but I deffo eat more when we’re both at home
