To really not get wrap dresses

Swonderful · 03/09/2022 23:34

I'm looking for some new work dresses and have the usual problems for those with big busts - too tight versus too revealing.

I know wrap dresses are supposed to be the solution but I just don't get how you can wear them without a cami underneath if you're big busted, which kind of spoils the whole look.

The models never wear them with anything underneath as they are usually flat chested.

Does anyone wear them without a cami and what do you do about cleavage?

YABU wrap dresses are great and I never find myself accidentally flashing my cleavage.

YANBU wrap dresses are pointless and really don't suit anyone.

I agree. I suspect they are pinned for photographs so that's why they can wear without a cami. I also think they really emphasis large boobs with the line cutting across them.

So much this.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 03/09/2022 23:38

I used to think they were the answer to all my wardrobe prayers. Then I realised that I was wrong.

DoodlePug · 03/09/2022 23:39

I always pin or stitch. And buy a size or two up. Definitely the easiest shape for me.

PolkaDotMankini · 03/09/2022 23:41

I had to sew myself in last time I wore a wrap dress.

Mountain Warehouse do good ones with a popper for a high crossover. Eg. www.mountainwarehouse.com/phoenix-womens-jersey-wrap-dress-p36773.aspx

GoldenOmber · 03/09/2022 23:42

Brooch or a pin at the crossover.

WhatsitWiggle · 03/09/2022 23:42

I'm flat chested and they don't work for me either - need a discreet safety pin to avoid flashing my bra.

Hankunamatata · 03/09/2022 23:42

I sew them or wear crop top underneath

DramaAlpaca · 03/09/2022 23:43

Totally agree. Tbey don't suit me at all.

RandomMess · 03/09/2022 23:43

Make me look pregnant 🤣

HPandTheNeverEndingBedtime · 03/09/2022 23:44

I used to have some from Dickins and Jones that had a little popper so the cross over was higher.

newfriend05 · 03/09/2022 23:45

Yeah recently cottoned on I they dont photograph very well

Chattycathydoll · 03/09/2022 23:48

I use a nice brooch to secure a too low neckline and they do suit my shape quite well, medium size bust and massive butt

Mapletreelane · 03/09/2022 23:48

I love them! I am apple shape so big busted and no waist. Yes have always had to wear a plain vest top under wrap dresses but love them . As they show more skin and me dellecotage (sp!) they distract from boob area. And ruffles around the waist on the dress distract from thick middle. Feel amazing wearing one that suits me .

toooldtocarewhoknows · 03/09/2022 23:48

They are fab, but they can be very different in fit depending on the cut and style.

I prefer wrap dresses and some I have to wear a modesty top under, others are fine without. Some are more flirty some have a more professional look.

You can't tell the look or the fit without trying it on. I'm a DD cup.

Wombat100 · 04/09/2022 00:05

I agree, I think they look really frumpy on me….

ChiefWiggumsBoy · 04/09/2022 00:27

The nicest one I ever had was from Bravissimo, so there was extra ruching at the bust which meant it lay beautifully across my boobs and fitted everywhere nicely. Unfortunately they don't do clothing anymore, and I ripped that dress by catching the belt loop on a door handle and literally ripping the entire thing off me!

bridgetreilly · 04/09/2022 00:27

Faux wrap are much better for me than real ones.

VanishingViolet · 04/09/2022 00:31

I don’t like them, they’re always a faff, gape open, dig in at the waist if you tie them too tight, give you a false sense of optimism when you take the dress into the changing room! Nope! Sorry wrap over dress, you’ve never worked for me!

Siameasy · 04/09/2022 00:49

They don’t work for me and I’m a B cup and slim. However, I’m not shapely so alot of dresses look frumpy on me as they “hang”; I tend to prefer things that are more obviously sexy

Changechangychange · 04/09/2022 00:54

Always wear a cami - I have literally never seen anyone not! They also aren’t flattering if you are big boobed - yes the dress fits, but it looks incredibly matronly.

Tierne · 04/09/2022 00:59

I cant be arsed with them. I'm a b cup and they look weird. I'm short waisted so the tying makes me look thicker around the middle than I am, and the front droops open so I look flat chested. Always feel like they are going to fall open. They are deceptive and look more carefree than they actually are

AUDHD · 04/09/2022 01:06

I’m a 32K bra size 12ish and they are one of the only styles that suit me

AUDHD · 04/09/2022 01:09

id agree with the above that faux wrap are even better than wrap. I’m 5’9 for reference
