Teachers on Facebook and night out

I’ve name changed for this, my friend was showing me photos of her children’s SLT (Dep Heads, other teachers) out on a night out in a City. She’s friends with one of the Teachers on Facebook.

There are photos of them enjoying a night out, doing shots etc and this Teacher is friends with a number of parents on Facebook.

AIBU to think it’s probably not appropriate to share these sort of photos on Facebook?

It is titled like a pre back to work night out with a number of parents commenting things like ‘are you ready?’.

Im not saying don’t go out but not sure how appropriate it is for teachers to be sharing like this on Facebook.

We regularly see our add teachers enjoying an after work/week drink. It’s nice for DD to see that they have a life and aren’t just miss so and so

Where did I say I was or would be offended?

Which is why I said "(or someone)" in case your arguments were not coming from a place of your own belief but rather arguing on behalf of others who may or may not be offended by whatever may or may not be posted on social media.

I actually agree OP

Every Friday night after work they should return to the convent avoiding any alcohol or sex, spend the whole weekend praying and then return to work on Monday morning.

Teachers must be areligious and apolitical as far as their students are concerned or they may be judged to be pushing their perspective onto students. No convent and no praying allowed. 😂

I worked at a school where it was deemed irresponsible to be FB friends with a parent and also to post pictures of drunken shenanigans.

And rightly so.

Some people believe that teachers finish teaching their little darlings, then get squirreled away into a locker for the night... to be released to teach again in the morning.

Same with nurses etc too. During my training, I was told by the head of the department that I should not go to a local gig by 'Kunt & the Gang' as it could bring our profession into disrepute if an ex patient or relative spotted me there.

You're either ignorant, thick, or both.
It's common knowledge. Recruiters and managers use people's social media profiles to vet employees.

And if these photos were PUBLIC on the profile then potential employers could see them. But you can't see PRIVATE photos. These photos are private.

The only reason they've been seen is because one of the teacher's FB friends showed them to someone else.

And the teacher was friends with this person BEFORE they became a parent at the school, everyone, read the post!

do what you want but don’t put it on Facebook unless you want people to see it. Expect anything on SM to be available to the world or don’t post it.

But you're the one with the problem with the photos. I'm sure the teachers don't care the photos are on social media - they're allowed a night out and they have done nothing wrong!

They probably had no idea that anyone would find offence at the photos. Honestly, where does it stop for you, OP? I have photos of me and my brother at his wedding holding glasses of wine - he's a police officer and I'm a teacher. Are these not allowed to be on there in case you see them and choose to judge us?

This is on YOU being judgemental, OP, not the teachers posting photos.
