A - small house, fairly recently refurbished, average to poor schools, 25 min commute to work, high end of budget

B - small house, recently refurbished to a high standard, good schools, 30 min commute to work, middle of budget

C - medium sized house, liveable but decor a little tired, good schools, 25 min commute to work, low end of budget

D - medium sized house, liveable but decor a little tired, average schools, 10 min commute to work, middle of budget

Which of these factors is most important to you and your family?

C
-priority for me is good schools
-not too far to work
-budget to decorate house as you want it
-medium sized house so you don’t need to move house as kids get bigger
-low end of budget so you’re not overstretched and stressed about it

But as someone said, is it in a good area?

Ponderingwindow · 28/08/2022 19:47

C

the best schools available is almost always the answer.

TeacupDrama · 28/08/2022 19:50

In order C then D a close second, then B a distant third but too small but avoids work can move again

can't think why A is on list as all criteria are the worst; most expensive with worst schools and same commute

C or d
When you say small or medium . How many square feet ? I wouldn’t want a really small house . Also avoid open plan .

ConsuelaHammock · 28/08/2022 19:54

I mean all open plan. Open plan kitchen and living is ok if you have another living room.

Jalepenojello · 28/08/2022 19:59

C, easily. Although you say A and B have recently been updated, is this cosmetic only?

age of wiring, central heating, windows and roofing are something I factor in and could swing me a different way

Nyna · 28/08/2022 20:18

C. In the current crisis it wouldnt be bad to spend as little as possible. Improvements can be done later when and if there are savings. Plus, good schools

Bimblybomeyelash · 28/08/2022 20:23

With that little info I would go for c. But there has to be a reason why the bigger house c is cheaper than a, beyond the decorative state. Is it a reason that is important to you?

maddiemookins16mum · 28/08/2022 20:24

Not A.

B or C. Good schools is non-negotiable. Probably C given the current economic situation

AlwaysLatte · 28/08/2022 20:34

c

GiantSpaceHamster · 28/08/2022 20:34

C every single time, no contest.

Livinginanotherworld · 28/08/2022 20:38

I’d say C.
bigger house, (tired decor can be updated as and when)
good school. Reasonable commute.

Sprig1 · 28/08/2022 20:45

C, maybe B. Nobody is going to pick A are they.

CaptainMum · 28/08/2022 20:46

D, C, B, A

Pompom2367 · 28/08/2022 20:47

CaptainMum · 28/08/2022 20:47

Or C top... missed the good schools!

Fahrted · 28/08/2022 20:49

C. No question about it. I would never buy a house that had been refurbished/redecorated, though. Schools would also be a major thing for me.

Exasperatednow · 28/08/2022 20:50
