So dh and I are both teachers with a toddler and and a baby and it's been a long 6 weeks!

Many of us have our neurotic ways but dh has a lot and normally I'd tolerate them but atm it's just plain annoying. Maybe we've just been in each other's company too much but things are starting to become more irritating, e.g

Dh has an obsession with opening all the windows around the house to let out plastic particles
He turns off the hot water even though we're on a combi boiler
He watches TV without any lights on in the evening.
He's always leaving stair gates open.
He's always looking at something on his phone

So how does your oh irritate you?

I know this is going to sound like some peoples dream husband but my husband annoys me because he neurotically cleans too much. It’s so fucking annoying when the hoover is out yet again ….. for two crumbs. Then he will go and clean his car …. again. I don’t even make the bed anymore as it’s not up to his hotel bed standard.

it’s a mental illness!!!!

he is lovely in every other way.

EnglishPearFreesia · 28/08/2022 10:00

Incessant Mansplaining about things he has just learned that he's shocked he didn't know..........

  • you see, there was a wall that split Germany in two halves.......... Wtffff....eff off

*drives the fully electric car at a constant 60mph to preserve energy 🙄
*eats sweet stuff at night, doesn't brush teeth and is moody when he gets toothache and refuses to go to the dentist because they just want to take all his teeth out (true)

  • repeats exactly what I've just said but using more words. 😖

To turn the tables I think if the husbands/ partners were joining this they would say:

moans about pointless things
neurotic

@Hellywel absolutely! How about 'nags' 🙄

I'm so pleased I created this thread. Reading everyone's irritations has made me feel so much better and more normal actually 😂
So thank you people 😊

Of course they would. DH will wind me up about nagging too. I wind him up too (about the man cave and his obsession over his personal vacuum cleaner to purify his air in there).

Gardencoffee · 28/08/2022 10:10

😂

OhMaria2 · 28/08/2022 10:11

A million times this!

And I bet when you mention the events that aren't on UK TV news I bet he's surprised or doesn't believe you

CandidaAlbicans2 · 28/08/2022 10:59

asks what time Aldi opens, what time the last train is etc. I don’t know the answers to any of these questions and he like me, has google on his phone. This has become a lot worse lately and l need to nip it in the bud.

@EL8888 if it were me, and he was doing it a lot, I'd be saying "how should I know, my name is EL8888 not bloody Alexa!" 🙄

FancyFelix · 28/08/2022 11:48

This one grinds my gears. The constant fucking mansplaining Hmm

bananaorange00 · 28/08/2022 12:36

I had a baby 3 weeks ago and DH has been on paternity leave for 3 weeks, to say I feel irritated would be putting it mildly!
He won't shut stair gates behind him, will get ds dressed for the day and he'll come down in bloody pjs, he'll change the baby's nappy on the bed and she'll wee or poo everywhere and he'll leave me to sort it, won't load the dishwasher as he goes just puts it beside the dishwasher. I'm breastfeeding so taking the brunt of nightfeeds while he gets plenty of sleep but he complains about how tired he is all day!

baxtersm · 28/08/2022 12:41

Anytime I decide to go anywhere even to the shops my hubby will say 'sure we'll all go'.. he has to be involved in every thing, can't even go to bloody Tesco now without the whole family.. It's like he hates being in the house with the kids by himself so he'd rather come everywhere with me.. it's so fecking annoying. This morning I decided to take the baby and his sister for a walk in the pram and was leaving him and the older two boys in the house watching tv, next thing that old phrase 'sure we'll all go!' 🙄🙄

EL8888 · 28/08/2022 13:10

Mines got ADD and never finishes a job. He's a teacher very creative but I bet he drives his work colleagues mad! He loses his glasses all the time and asks me a million times a day 'have you seen....?'

Teacherteachernotapreacher · 28/08/2022 16:42

Mine can’t eat quietly at all. He’s eating an apple right next to me now and I want to fucking stab him.

Xiaoxiong · 28/08/2022 16:53

Yes I was about to post about being a (very little bit) irritated with my teacher DH moaning about how much he has to do before the start of term, when he has just had 9 weeks off and still another week of hols. Kids are older so he doesn't even need to do all that much running around after them either so the summer has been pretty much 100% laid back for him so far, apart from A Level and GCSE results days.

But all your DHs are so much more irritating, I'm feeling quite charitable towards mine now!!

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 28/08/2022 17:19

Mine, and I do love him dearly, has a new phone. Now with some things he is very tech savvy, phones he is not. He’s been swearing at the thing for two days.
Also he watches a particular podcast with the most annoying presenter in the world. He refuses to use ear phones. See also playing games or his settings on phone, he doesn’t turn them off. But mine made the tiniest noise (I have everything on silent) and he’s “what’s that, what’s that?”
We are looking to both retire in the next 18 months. I may stay on voluntarily.

CuddlesAndChocolate · 29/08/2022 00:04

Another thing dh loves doing, is holding on to dead house plants, just in case they should resurrect themselves and flourish again. In reality, they're had it! Irritating that we have all these dead plants in the house but I guess it's also kind if sweet he wants to be a plant rescuer.
