To ruin my bedding and clothes for some pain relief?

Unfortunate underwear choice on a hot active day cut into top of my thighs.

BIG pain. Pants did actually cut into the skin so really no dignified way to sit. Or walk. Or do anything other than some crab step straight from the ministry of silly walks.

No appropriate topical product for relief in the house.

DM has suggested Vaseline in a pinch to at least reduce friction...
I am pretty horrified at the thought of essentially long lasting oil based lube (of a sort) being plastered on me, clothes and bedding. The pain is bad but surely not worth that clean up??

YABU - The pain is bad, use the ick and tackle stains on Monday.
YANBU - Your DM is clearly a lunatic, nobody wants vaseline all over their bed.

And get some savlon on there too. And also drink some whiskey, numb the pain

PeloAddict · 27/08/2022 23:42

I was going to suggest purple spray Grin
Does wound powder still exist?

Get some metanium quick. I have had a similar sore recently that was so incredibly painful. Metanium cleared it up in 24 hours.

Just change the sheets on a morning and peg them out each day. It's really not the end of the world.

AlexandriasWindmill · 27/08/2022 23:44

If you have any after-sun lotion with aloe vera, it helps.

I think I have half a would powder (those weird little mini bottles with the nozzle? What was that for? Puffing it up into a wound?) from 2000 in a very old dusty box.

Feels risky 😁

Fly spray 🤣🤣 Oof the citronella.

What about a nice bit of Canter coat shine, that'll lubricate things!

Yeah m&s need to work on that lace edge, it's way to stiff. Oo-er.

GrilledWatermelon · 27/08/2022 23:46

*too dammit

Dunnoburt · 27/08/2022 23:49

Metanium......amazing for this sort of "injury"..... but that'll give you yellow stains..... 😆

TournamentIgloo · 27/08/2022 23:50

I'm pretty sure any product (even my enemy the Vaseline) and a towel is the winning consensus. I will do it but I will grumble loudly to the cat, who will grumble back at the starfishing to sleep.

You all think too much of me assuming I have after sun (also at the horse) or Savlon - the Metanium looks ideal - will go for that tomorrow.

Talk about dramatic, shove some Vaseline on and go to sleep!

Surplus2requirements · 27/08/2022 23:56

Wire brush and Dettol

Motorina · 27/08/2022 23:58

It's happened once to me. Silver lace edging. I was wearing them on a 100k walk. Ended up taking them off and going commando. And did the last 10 miles or so in leggings and waterproof trousers, which helped.

I wasn't as bad as the guy who chafed his testicles raw, mind.

Sudocrem is my go to in this situation. And it will heal pretty quickly, if that's any reassurance.

Lineala · 27/08/2022 23:59

And stop wearing knickers, too hot in this heat . . . 🤕

Theredtoyphone · 28/08/2022 00:02

Vaseline tonight - metanium nappy cream tomorrow.

IcakethereforeIam · 28/08/2022 00:17

WD40 and duct tape?

LemonSwan · 28/08/2022 00:20

I am voting for Savlon and naked, or fashion a hydrocolloid blister plaster if it’s the right size.

WD40 and duct tape?

Used the last of the duct tape yesterday for a slightly off the wall tick removal. Solid idea though.

Geraldine and cycling shorts or similar

maddening · 28/08/2022 00:34

Germaline

Shodan · 28/08/2022 00:36

Do you have any chamomile teabags in the house?

If yes, make a strong cup. Allow to cool. Bathe soreness with it.

I put a strip of muslin soaked in cold chamomile tea in ds2's nappy overnight when he had bad nappy rash. Was almost completely healed in the morning.

IcakethereforeIam · 28/08/2022 00:38

Swarfega and polyfilla?

Rickrollme · 28/08/2022 00:49

Vaseline isn’t really “oily” in the way you may be thinking. And who cares abyway? Don’t you wash your things??

AnxietyLevelMax · 28/08/2022 00:55

Soon people won’t know if they want to pee or not without asking online first..

Pumpkinbite · 28/08/2022 00:57

Is d take painkillers and an antihistamine to bring down any heat and take the edge off
then I’d just leave it
get some air on it is normally the way to go I think.

if you have to put something on it it would be savlon or sudocreme- neither of which you have so I’d definitely leave it
I can’t see that Vaseline will help it heal

Nat6999 · 28/08/2022 00:58

Cotton chub rub shorts would cover the wound & absorb excess vaseline, have you thought of sudocrem?
