I just saw in my app! They are taking away £10 off at £200 and replacing it with a reward at £250. Rubbish. Lidl Abu.

I now won't push myself to hit the £200 target, so I'll be spending less there in future.

Namechangefail123 · 02/09/2022 06:52

I think I'll probably benefit more... You still get a week to spend it though.

georgarina · 02/09/2022 07:59

Lidl is such a false economy, for me anyway...sell-by dates always in a day or two on bakery items, and things coming home already mouldy. I waste more than I save by shopping there.

nannybeach · 02/09/2022 08:09

Strict budget, pension,used to shop in Aldi, mine is awkward to get to,it's on a one way system. Went back to Lidl. Said on the app 1-30 September,so wondering if this was just a trial. Cashier wasn't even aware of the changes. Asda is a long way from me,I don't really like it. Not keen on Tesco's cheaper own brands. The belt of course is severely tightened because of all the other bills

Cheeselog · 02/09/2022 10:29

I had a dream last night that they took away the £2 for £100 as well and replaced it with another free item 🤣

xogossipgirlxo · 02/09/2022 10:44

@Cheeselog 😂

I find Asda being still more expensive than Lidl. Some items have the same prices, but i.e. brown rice £1.09 in Lidl, £1.85 in Asda. I only go there to buy what I can't find in Lidl. I am going to shop in Aldi next week to see if I like it there. My Lidl is missing many products anyway, shelves are constantly empty. And I think Aldi has nice toiletries?

catandcoffee · 02/09/2022 10:47

@TwoMonthsOff yes that's the one.
God I loved that curry and I'm not even a vegetarian.
No-one seems to sale vegetable curry...why 😫

Branster · 02/09/2022 11:05

I noticed this last weekend on the app and was disappointed.

I've been trying to be more organised over last few months in an attempt to reduce grocery spending. So I used Lidl for most items. In August got to £200 by 15th of the month! Which never happened before. Usually I'd have to work out how to reach £200 just before month's end to get the £10 voucher.

My exercise has been negated by popping in to other supermarkets but, on the whole, the vast majority of shopping has been Lidl for my experiment.

I don't like the new offer, it means spending at least £350 to save the £10, instead of £200 as it used to be. Not sure I want to spend that much In Lidl every month.

The offers they keep giving me have zero appeal to me nowadays, not based on my usual shopping.

Morrisons offers never seem to make much difference and are quite poor since they started the app.

I might have to rethink all this using offers malarkey and supermarkets simply are not cheap anymore. Might as well use Sainsburys (which used to be more expensive than Waitrose for me) as it seems to be on a par since they all upped prices.

LovelyDaaling · 03/09/2022 07:59

I thought it was just me who got crappy coupons for things I never buy (and never will). The coupons started off so well at first, stuff I really wanted and could make a multi purchase with one coupon.
I wonder if my weekly coupons are the same as everyone else's. Amongst this week's offering are coupons for pizza (yet again, we hate pizza), mixed nuts, walnuts, (must have a glut of nuts) oat bars and dental

NOOOOOO!!

If they hadn't have started the bonus scheme we'd still all be shopping there. It's the fact they are changing the rules on something that's now established which is annoying.

I have walnuts, dental, oat bars, pizza, sliced cheese, yoghurt, some grain thins, charging device and german sausages. I noticed they started giving more coupons, is it just my app? I used to have 4 now I have 8.

PinkArt · 04/09/2022 21:09

Oooh that's interesting @xogossipgirlxo (interesting within the context of Lidl vouchers that is 😂). So mine are the same but no yoghurt or cheese, presumably because I buy lactose free milk there so they know the other dairy stuff is likely to be a no go. That said I've never bought any nuts from them and I've got two nuts offers!

IfHindsightWasBottled · 05/09/2022 01:57

The way I see it is this, I spend my usual £200 a month then I have to push another £50 to get 10% off my next shop? By the time I've spent that £250 I dont need anymore shopping that month so the 10% is pointless if all I require after that is bread and milk. I used to utilise the vouchers to save but I guess what I'll do now is go back to Aldi where I don't push myself to reach a target or utilise vouchers. Bad move on Lidls part I think

LovelyDaaling · 05/09/2022 15:54

I went onto the app and sent a moaning message to customer service. They can't do anything about it and I don't expect more than a stock reply.

I pointed out that many single person households will dib out now. I only used to just make the £200 and there are two of us.
Actually, so will the food bank miss out because I used to spend the £10 on goods for that.

Greenfrog78 · 05/09/2022 16:05

Does it give a maximum price for free w5 product? Or can I be any, I'm thinking just get most expensive item.

Caterina99 · 05/09/2022 18:51

We have a lot of coupons for various nuts this week

We are a nut free household due to allergies, so thanks Lidl! 😂Not that I suppose they’d know that from my shopping habits, but it’s just added to my annoyance over the app.

Howmanysleepsnow · 05/09/2022 19:15

What is a W5 item?

Oysterbabe · 05/09/2022 19:18

It's annoying. It was the one thing that gave them the edge for me over Aldi, as I marginally prefer Aldi products.

Greenfrog78 · 05/09/2022 19:33

I think w5 is the cleaning products,washing up liquid,polish etc

Oysterbabe · 05/09/2022 19:55

I wonder if it includes the W5 dishwasher tablets. They are shit though 🤣

I have to go to marks and Spencer and buy the various side pots - nice but nothing beats that Lidl one for value and taste it was epic ...so disappointed it was an excellent standby in freezer 😢

TwoMonthsOff · 06/09/2022 21:29

@catandcoffee
and the rice had so many cardamom pods in - so delish I’m so down with `Lidl now they have really missed a trick there…..I wish I’d stocked up when they had them 😢
I would have paid double what they charged it was that good

catandcoffee · 06/09/2022 21:49

@TwoMonthsOff

I know it was all perfect...😫
and they've stopped doing my favourite ice cream too ...😫

Soproudoflionesses · 06/09/2022 22:19

This is v annoying but won't spend as much in there now so their loss.

TwoMonthsOff · 06/09/2022 22:28

I now only pop in for turkey breast slices for cat, and the Aussie wine Box and the spreadable West Country butter, and I do like their sensitive micellar water but the discontinuing of the vege curry I may not ever get over 😭
I also like that hortus citrus garden gin
