I just saw in my app! They are taking away £10 off at £200 and replacing it with a reward at £250. Rubbish. Lidl Abu.

Yes I was not impressed either. I don't drive so can only buy as much as I can carry walking or on the bus, so 10% is going to be £3-4 tops. Even assuming I get to £250 in the month anyway.

girlfriend44 · 31/08/2022 20:08

Supermarket apps that offer a discount discriminate against people who don't have smartphones.

It should be done in a way where everyone can benefit who shops there.

Chicca1970 · 01/09/2022 10:04

Cheeky fuckers are now offering a free W5 item at £200.

Woo hoo.

So disappointed that Lidl are doing this - I have a strict £50 weekly budget at the moment.

What with this and the very real possibility that boozy hot mess Truss is going to be our next PM, the week is not progressing well …

GullTamer · 01/09/2022 12:43

With prices rising like this, we need more help, not less. Shame on you, Lidl.

We shop at the local branch almost every day, rarely more than £30. The £10/month has been very handy. Now that's gone and replaced with maybe £3 off the following month's shopping. wt*!

Aldi is looking good right about now.

xogossipgirlxo · 01/09/2022 14:27

I am using my last £10 coupon tonight. Rip 😥

I used mine yesterday. I probably won't bother with the app now.

The offers are getting only worse. I might use coupon for dental care and vitamin c 2 for £2, but it’s really like penny savings. I think I will take my husband and go to Aldi next week to see if we like the selection of products there.

PinkArt · 01/09/2022 15:19

You mean the 10% off walnuts in my current offers wouldn't be enough to wow you all?

IncessantNameChanger · 01/09/2022 15:34

We are family of 6 and I'd be hard pushed to spend £250 in Lidl every month. Lots of stuff is out of stock, I don't like doing a trolly load as the packing is a nightmare in my local one ( big new one in posher Town let's you pack slowly but it busier - even less stock).

Going every week and spending £50-£60 doesn't really appeal either. I do ender how much cheaper it really is now given that the food goes off faster too?

I'm just trying to be very strict shopping from now on.

I wonder if it works out if you stock up one month then shop less the next? No idea but it feels like too much of a faff to hit the vouchers unless your regularly doing the majority of your shop there

Danikm151 · 01/09/2022 15:38

the vouchers they give you are really naff now as well. they used to be based on your buying habits not it seems to be on what they can't sell.

Cheeselog · 01/09/2022 15:40

There’s only two of us and we’ve never yet hit the £200 so we’ve got no chance of hitting £250! I wish they would do something for £150, that’s more realistic for small households. The free bakery item for £50 isn’t particularly generous.

😂If I buy 20 of them, it's like getting 1 free!

Cheeselog · 01/09/2022 15:43

@IncessantNameChanger you’re meant to stick it back in your trolley and pack it at the shelf after the tills😊

xogossipgirlxo · 01/09/2022 15:43

Oh no, wait. I forgot it's for 1 item only 🙄

gogohmm · 01/09/2022 15:58

@WyldeSwan

Almond croissants were back yesterday!!!!

gogohmm · 01/09/2022 16:01

Alcohol isn't included in the 10% ! I've never spent £100 in Lidl excluding alcohol, no idea how you could. (Might have spent £300 including alcohol Grin)

Fundays12 · 01/09/2022 16:33

I think lidls is more expensive now then Asda or Tesco own brand stuff. I used to love Lidl but can only get half of what I need now at it.

cannaethink · 01/09/2022 16:50

I’ve only ever managed to get to £50 to get my free bread! I do my main shop at Tesco.

fisjon · 01/09/2022 16:58

Yep, def off to ASDA next shop and will compare prices. I'll let you know how I get on.

catmothertes1 · 01/09/2022 17:19

The change is annoying but might actually save me money as I often bought extra cupboard stuff to make sure I got to £200 before the end of the month in order to get the £10 voucher! Own goal there Lidl!

IncessantNameChanger · 01/09/2022 18:27

Cheeselog · 01/09/2022 15:43

I normally only buy 4 bag for life's worth and carefully put the heaviest at the start of the till then throw it high speed into my open bags. Hence not really willing to buy too much at each visit. Can't stand getting it all back out the trolley then packing it back in. Unless I bag it into the boot which I sometimes do for a bigger shop. Then the trolly sometimes rolls off as the car parks are never flat.

I could hit four £50 shops in a month. But maybe with the price rises who knows. Packing is something I hate about lidl and Aldi. I hate that sometimes you can't unload onto the belt fast enough before it starts getting scanned too. It's generally an unpleasant experience for more than a few bags. Plus you always need a trolly even for two bags as end up packing into a bag on the floor if I get a basket. My mum.and sister are horrified at the thought of it.

Caterina99 · 01/09/2022 20:06

I just put my bags for life in my trolley and throw things randomly into them as they come off the belt! It is definitely a bit more stressful than other supermarkets, but I don’t mind too much!

LovelyDaaling · 02/09/2022 00:24

That £10 used to keep me loyal to Lidl but now it's gone, there's little incentive after spending the first £100.

I shall do some shopping at Aldi after reaching the £2 voucher.

JamMakingWannaBe · 02/09/2022 05:15

Just see this too and it's crap. We're definitely going to miss the £10 off coupon.

Lidl is our local supermarket and I do like a lot of their products but we'd struggle to spend £250 to get the 10% off next shop AND have another big shop in that month.

DH and I both have the app so we'll rotate its use to both spend £100 for £2 off each.

EcoCustard · 02/09/2022 06:33

I always did our weekly shop at Lidl, however the last 18 months my local one has had stock & staffing issues meaning very empty shelves of products. It became annoying trying to do my shop and have to go other places to get the other stuff. So I alternate between Aldi occasionally Morrison’s or Asda. I boycott Tesco, haven’t been in since 2019. The Lidl reward Should still work out as we spend a lot as a family of 6. Still annoying though,
