My son 14 is friends with an 11yr old boy

Looking for some other perspectives…
my son is 14 and has a friend who is just 11. They game online together and have met up. His parents seem nice and my son has fun playing there. My ex thinks it’s weird and something is off. That he shouldn’t hang out with his as he’s too young. I think it gives my son a chance to laugh and play in a way he couldn’t with another14yr old as they get more self conscious .
What do you think?

Just a quick reminder that not all 15 year olds are drinking and having sex.

I grew up in a cul de sac which was also connected to another one and all the kids from both had a massive friendship group ranging from about 6 - 15!

I don't find it weird. My daughter has become close friends with the girl over the road who's 5 (almost 6) and my daughter is nearly 9. She sees her as a wee sister. They play lovely together. The only thing is my DD is allowed along to the park on her own with her phone but her friend isn't allowed without and adult. Both her parents work and they also have a eee boy aged 2 so we take it in turns to go along to the park but other than that I don't think much about the age gap. Her parents are very grateful for my DD playing with their daughter. X
