To wonder how people will financially survive?

To think that many people are struggling already. Food price rises, gas and electric costs. The general cost of living due to inflation from either brexit since the pandemic and Ukraine war. But come on some people were struggling before any of those factors. Financially people will be pushed to breaking christmas will be off the cards general life will stagnate no meals out leisure activities cinema socialising new clothes treat foods. The threat of blackouts and wondering how we will pay bills to keep warm or keep a house running. Never mind buying food the price of it plus the large gaps on shelves. Winter will be miserable. It's becoming impossible to live in this country.

The Gov are going to pay £400 for you. You said you wanted to spend the £400 on logs- well you can spend the £400 you would have spent on bills on logs instead.

I'm counting on my wealthy mum to help us. She's wonderful and has already said she will make up any gap we need.

She's precious and one in a million.

We'd be fucked otherwise.

I think a lot of parents will be doing this. There are a lot of wealthy pensioners, obviously a lot of struggling ones too but many will help their families out. For years on end my elderly aunt and uncle have paid for loads for my 2 single parent cousins - car tax, house deposits, childcare costs.

I'm not saving £400. My direct debit is going up from about £100 a month to over £500 a month, How is that a saving?!

It would be higher still

This is making me wish there was a donate the £400 off option for those who don’t want it. Someone else would gladly take it

ticktickticktickBOOM · 27/08/2022 00:43

There should be a scheme to donate it directly to help the aged or something

verdantverdure · 27/08/2022 00:43

@MarshaBradyo

I can't say No thanks can I? The arrangement is nothing to do with me.

If I spend the next six months in hospital and use no power in my house the energy company still gets that £400.

antelopevalley · 27/08/2022 00:43

I do not have wealthy parents, or any parents at all to help us. We will just freeze.

No energy? Are you getting cut off?

I think your account would be in credit but you’d have to check

verdantverdure · 27/08/2022 00:45

The government is donating it to the energy companies

We can't donate it anywhere.

It can only be given to the energy companies.

Samarie123 · 27/08/2022 00:45

Many will not survive. The government never have and never will care about us.

verdantverdure · 27/08/2022 00:48

If the supermarket put up the price of a loaf of bread to £5 a loaf tomorrow but the government gave you a book of vouchers that gave you 67p off your next six loaves would you consider that a discount?

Yes you can. If you are given £400 towards your bill that you don't need- donate £400 to help the aged or a struggling neighbour. It's quite simple.

I really think you are getting hung up on this where it’s actually beneficial - but you have switched it so it’s not.

It a help for everyone no matter what their income is, for £400 off bills

Others are getting cash too direct to accounts. It’s all support

No it’s not every pound of the rise but it’s better than not having it at all. It’s a hard conversation because it seems mixed up but I’m pretty sure you’d want to keep the £400 off if you could choose to or not

MarshaBradyo · 27/08/2022 00:51

Unless you really didn’t need it in which case donate the equivalent

I wouldn't have spent that £400 on nils if they hadn't hiked the prices up fourfold though.

The equivalent of what?

The extra £400 we now have to pay on our direct debit each month?

ticktickticktickBOOM · 27/08/2022 00:53

Oh fuck me. None of us would. You make it sound like anyone has a choice in this???

It’s addition to the post before

honestly it’s not that hard to get!

ticktickticktickBOOM · 27/08/2022 00:53

My point is rather the opposite.

That £400 is going from our taxes to the energy companies no matter what we would choose to spend it on.

verdantverdure · 27/08/2022 00:59

Apparently it is hard to get @MarshaBradyo

We're all worse off because the energy companies keep putting their prices up.

And the government is giving them £37billion of taxpayers money that we will all have to pay for.

And somehow you think we're the ones getting something.

ticktickticktickBOOM · 27/08/2022 01:03

Youre gonna be paying the 400 either which way. Wether by taxes or straight out your wages. Dontpayronise as if we all think we're getting a handout. We don't. It'll be paid back by us sooner or later like the illegal war of Blair's. Funny how no-one moans about the billions of tax payers spent on war.

I think you missed the part about £400 off everyone’s bills though. It’s an easy mistake I suppose.

But if you still feel that way it’s a shame you can’t reject and donate it so we wouldn’t have to suffer you getting help you don’t want

I like the idea of Help the Aged from pp

Anyway you seem bound to not want any money off so I’ll leave you with that idea

RedToothBrush · 27/08/2022 01:24

Babyroobs · 26/08/2022 23:00

It doesn't bear thinking about. I am hearing some horror stories from older people about relatives being thrown out of hospital earlier than they should, being sent home without care packages or the assessments they should have had. If people have to put up with cold damp homes there will be massive surge in people with long term respiratory illness being admitted. Or older people getting malnourished.

Its FINE. You can only die once and the dead can't bed block.

verdantverdure · 27/08/2022 01:28

I blame QVC

They put an item up on they're website for an inflated price then offer it with "a discount" as a Today's Special Value and absolute weapons think they're getting some kind of bargain.

MarshaBradyo · 27/08/2022 01:30

Oh god just stop already 😂

Insults won’t help you. Just have a think through and try not to spiral
