to think you shouldn't phone a family with three small children between six and say 7.30 pm?

I have a few friends who always ring around this time, when I'm in the middle of eating dinner/bath time/reading stories etc

Two of these friends have children themselves so should know better surely?
One friend is childless but I tell her EVERY TIME "oh can I call you back I'm in the middle of xyz" and she still doesn't get it after SEVEN YEARS

i leave the answer phone on and my mum always says 'i bet you are busy with the boys'.well yes i am mum and i have told you a thousand times and you don't have to phone every night!!!

GreatAuntieWurly · 26/03/2008 18:10

dont answer the phone, if im busy I dont bother, if its important they will ring back or text me.

denbury ditto here! YANBU! It is all very well to say leave it to answerphoe but it is distracting and worrying (my family have a history of disasters and panicy phonecalls). it doesnt take much for people to think they've got kids, theyre going to have their hands full early evening, ill leave it.

pagwatch · 26/03/2008 18:15

Well not very distracting surely and only worrying for the 30 seconds it takes to play the message....

And I find the stupid sales callers always phone at that time so all the more reason to call screen

YANBU at all. This is my absolute pet hate. I don't tend to have a problem with family or friends but with banks etc. AND we are x directory. I once had the banks credit department on the phone to me about my overdraft, questioning me with the whole "havn't you got a friend who can pay this back for you" bull shit. DD was SCREAMING in the background. I was really upset and suffering from PND, bastard would not take no for an answer, i tried to hold it together but in the end i screamed at him to fucking well call me at a more convenient time.

We often get the bank calling us, "just to let us know" the account is over the overdraft limit. Then, this is the best bit, you have to go through the whole automated phone bit when THEY CALLED US, Then, it gets better, be put on hold for half an hour, only to be told at the end of this, that their office is now closed . You would think i was making that up wouldnt you - but it actually happened.
