To ask if you've had a payrise yet?

Simply put - is your company proactively raising salaries/wages, or have you got zero?

For the voting option:

YABU - no payrise
YANBU - yes, got a pay rise.

I'll kick it off.

Zero, work in tech. A large nominal salary, but no pay rise is a pay cut with inflation as it is.

We have one that's being voted on by union members. It's a set amount of money for all pay grades plus an extra days leave. I'm happy with it and hope we get it.

Tigofigo · 25/08/2022 09:04

No way - we are losing business due to downturn, the businesses we work with are the kind that people stop buying as much from when the shit hits the fan. Doubt we'll get a payrise any time soon. Luckily none of us are on min wage.

SwanBuster · 25/08/2022 09:06

Oh - our company cited that they would look at what other companies are doing before making any decisions on whether to raise wages. They supposedly won't have gathered sufficient data until next year.

I got 1% in March, (also a high earner). My organisation have given a further, one off, ad hoc, pay rise a couple of months ago to everyone earning under £35k. Doesn't help me but I'm pleased they are looking after those on lower salaries. I expect a considerably better one in the next pay round.

ChloeKellyIsAnIcon · 25/08/2022 09:07

I work in the public sector so we get a pay rise every year. But I bet my salary is lower than yours OP (if we had comparable qualifications and experience).

Horcruxe · 25/08/2022 09:07

Pay rise- what's that?

BeyondMyWits · 25/08/2022 09:08

Minimum wage went up, apparently that is our pay rise.

Probably - but your pension is potentially superior.

Is this the NJC pay scales one for schools and local government?

Because it's not straight forward. Councils and schools are not being given extra funding to cover the rise, which means it has to come from existing budgets. This means that to fund it, something will need to be cut elsewhere, whether that be services or staff.

Which is why I voted in my union to reject the offer. On paper it does look good, especially if you are at the bottom of the scale, but like most things with this government, if you delve deeper you can see the murk they are trying to hide.

I'm impressed by that - looking after the ones who likely are most in need, although further down the line as you say, that sets expectations for everyone else.

Yes. I get an extra 44p per hour as of last month.
DH got a 5% payrise.

IsDaveThere · 25/08/2022 09:14

Yes, 3% wef Aug 1st.

Hoolahoophop · 25/08/2022 09:15

5% in April. Larger than usual bonus in July. Expecting another bonus in winter.

KittenKong · 25/08/2022 09:16

Last place was making money hand over fist over lockdown (that type of industry). Of course no raise or bonus ‘cos covid’. But they were making record profits!

Snowiscold · 25/08/2022 09:17

We have been offered 1%. I currently earn 30k, including London weighting. The 1% doesn’t include the London weighting bit.

It’s not a given, I’m public sector (social worker) and didn’t get a penny.

orangeisthenewpuce · 25/08/2022 09:17

@HelloThereObiWan

Yes it is. I'm not in the Union so can't vote for it.

Fatballs · 25/08/2022 09:18

Zero, and nothing likely on the horizon unless I get promotion.

No bonus incentives in my profession.

Christmasiscominghohoho · 25/08/2022 09:18

Yes I got a pay rise of roughly £2 extra an hour.

GrandSlamFinalee · 25/08/2022 09:18

What’s a payrise…? I’ve gone from 13k to just over 10k (annually). Lateral move but exactly same job. Good thing I’ve got extra jobs on the side…

ShinyMe · 25/08/2022 09:18

We haven't had a payrise for years and we made a load of people redundant in March, and a load more in July, so no. I will count myself lucky to still have a job by Christmas to be honest. I work in FE and we are struggling.

Coffeaddict · 25/08/2022 09:19

Russel group university 3% but it is our annual increase although a bit higher this year.

DP works in a high street bank they get their usual incremental increases in march but have just been given a 3.5% extra boost last month

PeloAddict · 25/08/2022 09:19

Rise due to min wage going up
£300 payment to every staff member as a cost of living payment

NotMyDayJob · 25/08/2022 09:20

I've not had a pay rise since 2017
