Simply put - is your company proactively raising salaries/wages, or have you got zero?

For the voting option:

YABU - no payrise
YANBU - yes, got a pay rise.

I'll kick it off.

Zero, work in tech. A large nominal salary, but no pay rise is a pay cut with inflation as it is.

Yes…I’m in pharma, we get 2-3% annually and 8% bonus.

oceanbleu · 28/08/2022 19:43

Nope. Asked for one and was rejected so I've left the job for a better paying one.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 28/08/2022 20:01

Teacher in Wales.

We had a three year pay freeze then...
2020 - 2.75%
Last year 1.75% (and thought ourselves lucky as England had a pay freeze for another year).
This year 5%!
And next year 3.5%

DisenchantedDewberry · 28/08/2022 22:50

Union is fighting for a pay increase, however, even with said pay increase it isn't even in line with national minimum wage. Its an actual disgrace and I'm looking for a new job.

At the start of Covid I had just started a full-time job earning 16k - today I now earn £21,800 but a lot is expected and I've changed employers a number of times since Feb 2020. Latest being it's shift work, the notice period for the employee isn't just 1 week, you never hear any praise, working past finish hours and the employment has an expiry date, and personally I am very scared that a cost of living bonus, towards energy they issued which strangely carry's no restrictions to the point I've put it aside, if things turn nasty.

My Dad said everyone is getting a cost of living from their employer (I think he is getting super confused with the DWP) to which I said Dad there have been people with no pay rise in these last 2 years.

I’ve had two, private company (solicitors), in line with inflation.

I work in the public sector so we get a pay rise every year. But I bet my salary is lower than yours OP (if we had comparable qualifications and experience).

Sadly, not everyone who works in the public sector gets a pay rise every year, in fact many have had pay freezes, or below inflation pay rises through years of austerity and have suffered real terms pay cuts for years.

This year, I’m getting a pay rise due to moving up a band and a small percentage pay rise. At the current time, I consider myself relatively lucky to be able to say that, but sadly I have colleagues who can’t say the same.

We own a small business and have had to actually take a pay cut. There is no confidence in consumer spending and one person's pay increase is another person's cost increase.

Purple52 · 30/08/2022 22:31

We’ve taken the decision to give 5-15% …. Higher %age to the lower paid. (So higher paid still get a good chunk! Most of whom have questioned why they’ve been given it & tried to refuse it! Based on affordability for the business)
need to try and keep the good team we have. Already trying to recruit for expansion & finding it difficult.

Boulezvous · 30/08/2022 22:38

They are looking at giving us 3 percent and more flexibility on working from home. professional body.

What is your role?

I don’t know any public sector workers who get an automatic pay rise every year.

Heatherjayne1972 · 31/08/2022 09:07

No.

normally we get 2% in January but not looking good this year
people with no money probably will go to the dentist less

BaileySharp · 31/08/2022 09:30
