… to really not understand how so many women participate in porn?

I recently watched the Thyberg movie Pleasure. I liked parts of it. It showed a somewhat young and vulnerable girl, there were elements of friendship, some competitiveness, etc. But it did make me wonder who are all these women, they are real people, and think that they all have a story.

I just can’t imagine doing something like that, even when I was young and stupid. I also cannot imagine any of my friends doing it.

I’d assume that for some it’s a mixture of coercion, trafficking and drugs?

Money? But I’d assume there is very little for the participants?

@StillGoingStrongToday

Why are you so determined to ignore all the stats being presented to you re the backgrounds of many women involved in the prostitution business?

I haven't watched reams of documentaries, but the few I have seen, even those that started out to examine things impartially, always, without exception, ended up revealing the ladies to be adversely affected by their choices. And, yes, many of them had abuse in their backgrounds.

Why are you in denial about this? Quite aggressively resolute in your denial of these lived experiences?

Tbh most if not all of the links provided in this thread aren't showing what those posting them think they are

That's why some posters are challenging them

It's not rocket science though, is it?

You can argue all you like that there may be some women who do it for the money etc, but surely you'd have to be a bit dense to deny that childhood neglect and trauma is a factor for many in the sex industry.

The sex industry is a bit broad

That includes prostitution which has clearer and more well documented links to childhood sexual abuse etc.

@AnnaFri

True. 'Sex work" is a massively broad spectrum.
