DH has just drank a full bottle of red wine to himself in 2 hours.

AIBU to think this is excessive??

Yikes! I am normalising it and I do it once every 4 months if im lucky my enough to have childcare. I also don't much feel like drinking often, but if anyone did it doesn't make them a heavy drinker. Not judging without context doesn't make someone a heavy drinker either. Jeeeeez.

PeloAddict · 23/08/2022 21:06

Hmm. If it's frequent
I barely drink, but when I do (once a year or less) I can do a bottle of wine in an hour before a night out

OnTheBoardwalk · 23/08/2022 21:13

So he doesn’t normally drink during the week and hardly drinks wine?

what was he doing whilst drinking the wine?

I don’t personally have wine in the house because if I do and it’s a nice bottle it’s gone in no time at all

WomanStanleyWoman2 · 23/08/2022 21:18

The mood I’m in today, it would not have taken two hours.

JJG12 · 23/08/2022 21:19

This made me lol I hear you!

not Occasionally no

Floweryflora · 23/08/2022 21:23

Huge lol. Teetotal since new year, a whole eight months and now decide it’s excessive, 🤣

ShandaLear · 23/08/2022 21:23

That’s one every 40 minutes or so, or a regular glass every half hour. Yeah, I could do that easily. As long as it’s not often, a special bottle of red you were keeping for a special occasion, or the start of an evening involving another bottle of wine and a couple of gins, then I wouldn’t get too worked up.

Floweryflora · 23/08/2022 21:25

You a bit jealous op and have some issues.

QueSyrahSyrah · 23/08/2022 21:25

It's a lot, but I could quite easily get through a bottle in that amount of time in the right circumstances, and have in the past (I wouldn't feel too fresh the next day though).

SueSaid · 23/08/2022 21:00

A bottle of wine in 2 hrs is excessive. Anyone who normalises it are probably heavy drinkers themselves.

How does he act when he drinks this much, was he alone or was it a social setting?

Nope.

wannarunfromitall · 23/08/2022 21:31

It's absolutely fine. What do you want from this thread

notanothertakeaway · 23/08/2022 21:34

I think that's quite a lot (1) in one sitting and (2) in 2 hours

But agree with PP that drinking daily is different from occasionally

Rosesandstars · 23/08/2022 21:36

Wow, how do most people not think that 2 bottles in two hours is excessive.

Liver cirrhosis and pancreatic cancer (from this type of drinking) are not nice ways to go.

Notplayingball · 23/08/2022 21:37

AgnestaVipers · 23/08/2022 20:01

Sounds excessive to me. It's a Tuesday!

Crazy idea but some folk work weekends and have their days off during the week. He might just be relaxing and enjoying himself.

I personally couldn't neck half a bottle never mind a full one. Doesn't mean others find it a struggle.

Why have you just randomly doubled the amount? What possible point is that supposed to be making?

Christmasiscominghohoho · 23/08/2022 21:38

only 1 bottle in 2 hours?

it’s not a lot of it’s occasional.

It’s one bottle…..

not two.

GyozaGuiting · 23/08/2022 21:39

Over dinner I’ve had a bottle of wine in probably 2 or so hours when out with friends.

Notplayingball · 23/08/2022 21:40

I suppose that amount might as well feel like two bottles for those of us who hardly go through loads of alcohol regularly.

GyozaGuiting · 23/08/2022 21:41

Oh and a friend at uni (male rugby player) used to strawpedo a whole bottle of wine before going out! He could see it off in about 6 seconds.
(although that definitely isn’t healthy).

TwoBlondes · 23/08/2022 21:42

How much does he drink the rest of the week ?

FuncaMunca · 23/08/2022 21:45

Yup this

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 23/08/2022 21:46

I guess it’s quite a lot to drink to yourself, by yourself, on a week night. I don’t think the speed with which he drank it is especially unusual.

I could drink a whole bottle if I was out for the evening, although usually it would be more finishing three bottles between three, for example.

These threads always attract the Holy Puritans.🙄 OP if it's not every day or even every other day, it's fine. He's an adult. He can drink a bottle of wine and read a damn book.
