www.independent.co.uk/travel/news-and-advice/vogue-williams-flight-seats-spencer-matthews-b2150116.html#l7652tmicb0ymkdkfgc

I was actually astounded reading this!

Summary for those who don’t want to click the link: Vogue Williams booked the wrong seats on a plane, demanded a man move so they could all sit together, he initially declined to move and then changed his mind, she was still incredibly rude about him to an air hostess and then bitched about it on her podcast. And by the sounds of it, she’s done this before, suggesting that she just expects everyone to bend to her will. Also Spencer Matthews admitted that he frequently queue jumps.

Spencer was on Celebrity Masterchef a few years ago and was really pleasant. Well-mannered, modest etc. although it was fairly obvious from the things he said that he had been "practising" a lot and may have had some "coaching". However, he came across as a very personable chap.

His brother is married to Pippa Middleton. She is Bryan McFadden from Westlife's ex wife.

So she has indirect connections to the Queen and Kerry Katona.

Ah, so both A list superstars then. Move over Keanu 🙄

WhileMyGuitarGentlyWeeps · 23/08/2022 18:33

Not shocked tbh. Many of these talentless C, D, E, and Z listers are all the same. The REALLY talented hugely successful A listers (and some B listers, the ones who aren't top of the tree stars but always in work IYSWIM,) are often quite nice, pleasant, and not showy or entitled.

Tom Hardy, Leo DiCaprio, David Beckham, and Johnny Depp etc have been known to be very humble, chatty, and pleasant, and lovely to their fans, but people like 'Arge' off TOWIE (and people similar to him,) are entitled A-holes who think they're much bigger than they are, and they're vile to people.

So this news about Vogue and Spencer comes as no shock whatsoever tbh.

I've read a good response to, "Do you know who I am?" Turn to the people nearby and ask loudly, "Does anyone know who this person is? He/she seems to have forgotten."

I heard a brilliant story along those lines.

I'm not sure which airline was supposedly involved, but for one reason or another flights got cancelled and there was a long queue for the desks to get everyone rebooked. A man stormed to the front and demanded to be put on the next flight. The woman behind the desk asked him to join the queue.

"Do you know who I am?"
[Over PA] "Ladies and gentlemen, we have a passenger at customer services who does not know who he is. If anyone can help him resolve his identity crisis, please speak to a member of staff"
"F* you"
"I'm afraid that you will have to join the queue for that as well Sir."

The passenger changed his mind and agreed to swap, whereupon she turned to the air hostess and called him a fucking piece of shit. I think in his shoes I'd have changed my mind right back again.

This.

Really appalling behaviour.

Re 'do you know who I am"

Seb Coe at the highs of his fame once arrived at the wrong door to Lords (MCC) cricket ground. He was politely advised which door to go to and pulled the 'don't you know who I am' card.

When he had explained (current holder of world record for fastest 800m sprint) the person on the door was allegedly replied 'well you will be able to round round there quickly, won't you'.

DH once went to a car event where the then Top Gear team were appearing. Richard Hammond turned up and they wouldn't let him in, but he plainly didn't want to pull the "Don't you know who I am?" card. Eventually DH had to point out to the people on the door that they might not have much of an event if they didn't let one of the main participants in.

Celebrities...

My husband is a curator at a national museum. Staff were told they needed to stay late one evening at short notice because Beyonce was in the UK and wanted a private tour. OK, about 20 staff had to be around to facilitate this - she didn't want any Joe Public in there with her.

She arrived nearly 2 hours late with a massive, scary-looking entourage (it was the British Museum, for heaven's sake). She didn't greet anyone, wouldn't speak to the staff who had been asked to give her a personal tour and stayed glued to her phone throughout. My husband said it was a really depressing experience, trying to give a tour spiel to someone who wouldn't look at you or show any sign of interest in what you were telling them. So rude it's off the scale. I suppose she wanted to be able tell interviewers she was really intellectual, cultured and just lerrvved the British Museum.

Nothing these ridiculous people do would surprise me.

This makes me genuinely sad. What a waste of everyone's time! And a wasted opportunity. Imagine having that type of accesss to experts on history and culture and not asking any questions!? Baffling!

How are these people supposed to create art when they don't/won't engage in real life? Their whole industry is fake.

marblemad · 26/08/2022 02:31

As someone with Autism who regularly travels to stay with family, I have been assigned a designated comfortable seat and have severe anxiety, someone like Vogue harassing me into moving would send me into meltdown. She is a cruel b*tch and needs educating.

Thanks to the posters above for educating me on who these people are! What idiots!

Somethingneedstochange · 26/08/2022 03:51

I don't care who they are I pay extra so we can sit together. If they booked wrong seat's tough shit. I am not unsettling my disabled children for someone who thinks we should bow and courtsy to them.

I watched him on the hunted program and thought he came across well.

I read his account of the queue jumping and again he said he was trying it on and was put back.in his place. The 'story' came from him....

But I did giggle as I misread your post and thought he did mastermind!

That is so nice to 'hear' @Novum as I have always liked him.

I also love your tale about Seb Coe @FinallyHere, I never liked him so it is good to find out that after many years of getting it spectacularly wrong, I actually seem to have got my character analysis right - twice 😂

Well said @LetsGoDoDoDo, I agree with everything you just said!

PuzzyGalore · 26/08/2022 06:19

My Father had the 'Don't you know who I am' comment pulled on him by an actor many years ago. Dad replied, 'no idea but I'm Mr Galore' and carried on helping the person he was with.

Why does the British Museum, or any other venue, pander to them and even say yes to this sort of thing?
The answer is 'No, our opening hours are ......'
Or 'We would be delighted to facilitate this- it costs us £25,000 per hour to open the museum for a private visit, plus a one-off donation fee of £25,000. The clock starts ticking as soon as our normal day ends. You'll appreciate all of the staff will be working additional hours from that point. '
