Suddenly appeared, doesn't itch, but only in my left arm and left side of chest. No where else.

shingles in T1 dermatome

headfulofdreams · 21/08/2022 22:51

I have a very similar rash. Had COVID mid July. We went wild swimming a week ago and the spots came up a few days after. Doctor said it's folliculitis and has given me antibiotics.

I do have two cats and two dogs and not offended at all, I initially thought it may be this but only on one side of body and no fleas in any animals

You can get chicken pox more than once, usually if the first does is mild. Can you remember was it bad when you had it as a child?

Marymary987 · 21/08/2022 23:37

I would say it’s chicken pox with the fluid filled blisters.

I can't remember as was a toddler but will ask my mum tomorrow. I don't think it was really bad as never been mentioned to me.

Your dd just recovered from chicken pox? They look exactly like chicken pox, would put money on it.
Definitely not shingles, they appear in a cluster.
You can get chicken pox more than once, especially if you only had a mild case as a child.

ToppCat · 22/08/2022 00:03

It doesn’t look like shingles to me.

Moonchild18 · 22/08/2022 00:21

Could it be folliculitis? Your rash looks like the rash my DD gets when she's been in a hottub or in our pool in the garden if it's not been treated properly

Mrmojorising71 · 22/08/2022 00:25

Shingles? A relative had it recently and it was misdiagnosed as a bite.

WitchBaby · 22/08/2022 00:55

Too much of a coincidence that your DD has just had chickenpox, my money is on that.
You probably only had it mild as a DC. My DD had it twice.

WakeMeUpBeforeYouGo · 22/08/2022 01:14

Could be chickenpox OP.
Do see how the next few days progress. If it's chicken pox, best to get anti viral from the GP as that will really help.
DH and his siblings all had it mild as children but all of them got it again as adults (a few weeks after their respective kids were contagious with it).

WithOneLook · 24/08/2022 14:50

It's a bit of a myth that you can only get chicken pox once. Lots of people do get immunity but it's questionable if it's life long and many people don't develop immunity anyway. I had chicked pox 3 times in childhood (once was hospitalised so not 'mildly') and was recently tested for immunity and shown not to be immune and needed the vaccination (before my treatment could start) so there are no guarantees!

MyneighbourisTotoro · 24/08/2022 15:00

It’s worth visiting your GP or at least a pharmacist, my first thought was shingles but there’s so many things it could be.
