Lady Gawain is very good at the things she does and I often acknowledge this.

However, I have particular skills in two areas which she is involved with but depend on my specific technical and professional expertise. AIBU when she interferes and tries to instruct me how to do the job even though she has no idea of what's involved.

Hard to say without knowing what the skills are. There are some things where a layperson might have a valid opinion even though they know less about it. For example, just because you used to work as a chef doesn't mean you are cooking her eggs the way she likes them. Or maybe you used to be a painter/decorator but she doesn't like the way you hang wallpaper.

At a guess I would say probably YANBU, but we need more details.

Its not unreasonable to be annoyed about most things, however its very unreasonable to ask for advice without giving some sort of information. If thats how you do your professional job (lack of clear communication) then your wife is probably in the right.

Certainly not unique nor particularly special. Lot’s of people have this skill be put it’s not something everyone would even want to do. Far from being something shameful, people tend to look up to you for being willing to do it. And the people who use the service are very grateful.
