To stock up on nappies at 6 months pregnant?

FTM here! Any opinions much appreciated 😊

My local Morrison’s have new born pampers nappies half price at the mo for £6. Should I stock up now? Is this cheap/ a good price for nappies? Or am I being stupid and these offers happen all the time 🤣 I am 6 months pregnant. Thanks!

Don't buy too many newborn as some babies are big born or grow very quickly. Try using Aldi ones as really soft and nice and so much cheaper. Stock up on 11lbs upwards as they are in that size longer.

I'd try getting a pack here and there of different brands. When DD was newborn, pampers gave her terrible nappy rash and we stuck to Aldi premium (so much cheaper!) until she was about 9 months, then went back to pampers. You never know what nappies will suit your baby.
And there is always an offer on somewhere for nappies!

Don’t bother. You might end up hating the brand you buy. Some brands seem to fit better/ leak less than others.
it would be very annoying if you had 100 nappies that aren’t suitable

Thefruitbatdancer · 15/08/2022 22:53

I used Aldi for my dc as pampers just leaked everywhere. Asda angels were good too, I found huggies & sainsbury's too hard.

We ended up using local nappy library and switched to cloth after the newborn stage

Aldi nappies are great and cheaper. I stocked up and got a few of the 1st 2 sizes every time I did a food shop.

Foxgluv · 15/08/2022 23:27

I've always only bought 1 pack of size 0 and 1 pack of size 1 for babies arriving.

Store own brands are cheaper than that. I like Pampers but I wouldn't bother with them for a newborn. They go through nappies constantly so not worth the money. They're also noticeably scented, personal preference but I didn’t like something so scented being on a newborns skin. Asda and Aldi nappies are good for newborns.

I did!

It really came in handy when I had one of those days weeks when I stayed in PJs and couldn’t be arsed going anywhere.

I personally wouldn’t. Nappies vary wildly, I’ve friends that swear by Tesco own brand and others that will buy nothing but Huggies. Don’t spend a fortune on one brand, as you may not like it.
You’d be better off buying the smallest pack of a few different ones to try out to start with

I didnt think Huggies did nappies in the UK anymore?

KilmordenCastle · 15/08/2022 23:37

My MIL told me stock up on newborn nappies when I was pregnant with my first and I took her advice and bought as many as I could. Dc1 was a big baby and only fit in newborn nappies for about a week 🙄 so much money wasted.

Also asda and aldi nappies are way better than pampers. Pampers are a complete rip off.

Kona84 · 15/08/2022 23:38

My baby never got on with pampers, they leaked and irritated her.
ive found the aldi ones are best for her.
she also quickly moved up to the next nappy size within a Month so don’t stockpile too many

Qwaszx · 16/08/2022 00:31

Does no one use cloth nappies these days? 20 years ago I had my babies in muslins or thin terriers for about 6 / 8 weeks, then into non aplix tots bots and mother ease wraps. They were my faves, but I did end up with quite a collection🤣

Never ran out of nappies. Never had a leak. Never had dirty dustbins filled with waste. Used them on all my kids. Saved a fortune. Saved a bit of the planet...

I highly recommend having a look. Smile

Hesma · 16/08/2022 08:05

I wouldn’t stock up personally. Pampers have a strong brand but I found them useless. Preferred Aldi/Sainsbury’s/Boots own brand

ZooMount · 16/08/2022 08:31

I personally loved pampers baby dry but I don't buy them as newborn as they go through nappies so quickly you'll end up changing them much more regularly so it's a bit of a waste of money. It's definitely good to shop around a bit, sizes etc are are different. I've definitely made the mistake before of stocking up and finding they have outgrown the size before I finish using them all.

DancingBeanstalk · 16/08/2022 08:34

Offers are always on. And not only that, they might not suit your DC.

Not all nappies are made the same and babies’ bodies are all different.
