Leaking nappies, I'm so frustrated!!

Shamelessly posting here for traffic and hoping some super hero mums can rescue me!!

DS has not long turned 2, the last month or so he's waking up because of a nappy leak and I am beyond frustrated! I'm washing his bedding daily and the sleep disturbance is killing myself and his dad.

Does anybody have any recommendations? We stop drinking about an hour before bedtime but his nappy isn't necessarily always full, he lies on his front so it's almost like it just shoots out the front and doesn't have time to absorb round the back. It's nap times too, today's nap has ended up with wet bedding, that was clean on this morning!!

We're currently using asda nappy pants but have tried asda nappies, pampers nappies and the pamper night time pants but nothing seems to hold the pee in! Daytime is fine, it's just the night that we can't seem to crack!

Thank you!

Would putting the nappy on backwards be worth a try?

Blixem · 15/08/2022 14:34

Have you tried going up a size?

Twizbe · 15/08/2022 14:35

Size up.

bogoblin · 15/08/2022 14:35

Do you need to size up?

We use Lidl's Lupilu nappies and they are brilliant! DS about to turn two as well so well in the dodgy sleep position stage

FilePhoto · 15/08/2022 14:37

Make sure his willy is pointed down into the nappy.

Or try sizing up.

Skyla01 · 15/08/2022 14:39

We use reusable nappies in the day. For night we used disposable nappy with a reusable waterproof wrap over the top. Although since I night weaned we're just back to a disposable on its own and have very few leaks.

Whattodoaboutworknow · 15/08/2022 14:40

Size up! Ours is just about to turn two and we also use lidls pull ups and no leaks here and he drinks a large milk just before bed too!

Failing that you could get a nappy pad insert from Amazon, we used these when ds leaked at one stage.

overitall1 · 15/08/2022 14:42

You could use the bed pads underneath, at least it would save the bedding!

justasking111 · 15/08/2022 14:42

If you used terries as I did the fold is different for boys which unisex disposables don't allow for. Sizing up maybe helps or PLENTY kitchen roll the washable one folded in three and placed in the front of the nappy lengthways . To absorb the hosepipe effect

FoxtrotSkarloey · 15/08/2022 14:45

What does he weigh and what size have you got him in?

Size up on the Pampers Night Time pants.

Make sure he hasn't got a wedgie.

As he's a boy, make sure his willy is tucked in and pointing straight down the centre of the nappy.

Yumyumgin · 15/08/2022 14:55

Thanks for your replies. He's 14kg so in size 5. He's quite a skinny lad so I do worry if the 6 would fall off or gape around the legs? He has a puppy pad under his bedsheet but he usually gets his duvet too as he tucks himself right in!

Aldi have a plus version (so 5 and then 5+) which is more absorbent. We had loads of leaks until we tried that. But I can sympathise - a boy who also sleeps on his front / knees which makes it all pool in one spot!

LoopDiL00p · 15/08/2022 14:58

We had the same with our then 2 year old. We started pulling the nappy slightly higher at the front for bedtime which helped some of the time.

FourOclock · 15/08/2022 15:01

We have this issue with our two year old. We use a disposable pull up with a reusable Motherease Bedwetter over the top, I just tell him they are his pj shorts. Then we have a Brolly Sheets waterproof sheet on the bed just in case

Nannymaggy · 15/08/2022 15:06

Point willy down. Make sure the ruffles are tucked out. Size up. Try the nappy liner pads (basically like medical sanitary pads) and waterproof sheets on the bed. May be worth thinking about potty training soon

FoxtrotSkarloey · 15/08/2022 15:11

When did you move him up to 5s? If he's quite skinny are they actually too loose? 14kg could still fit in 4s. If the issue is leak rather than saturation, you could try 4s again?

SalviaOfficinalis · 15/08/2022 15:12

Does he wear a vest/bodysuit with poppers? If so, don’t do the poppers up - even if it’s not really tight it can push against the nappy and make it leak.

Flowersintheattic57 · 15/08/2022 15:15

My grandson pees on everything, he’s two, he’s also very enthusiastic about getting his little hand inside the nappy and having a bit of a tug. Once he’s asleep we go in and give him an adjustment..

fyn · 15/08/2022 15:48

We have a very small 2 year old (12-18 clothes) who wears size 5 at night for leaks. We use the rascal and friends nappy pants, the leaks have stopped since sizing up.

GoAround · 15/08/2022 15:54

He’s still within the weight range of sizes 4s (
according the box of Pampers I have which is 9-15kg. If he’s a slim build then it sounds like the 5s are actually too big.

Ooh yes we got rid of poppers for this reason.

Bambo Nature nappies, available online, are not cheap, but they are incredibly absorbent. We used cloth during the day, and these at night and on long journeys. Never had a single leak.

ImEasyLikeSundayMorning · 15/08/2022 17:57

Size 6 nappies and ditch anything that does up around the bottom.

sorted.

Milkand2sugarsplease · 15/08/2022 17:59

Try the girls' dry nights for a tummy sleeper boy and make sure his Willy is pointing down in them.
