AIBU to think DH is being very unreasonable here?

Firstly this is lighthearted (I hate that you have to spell that out on Mumsnet these days! And also I don’t want to hear any “YABU to get tattoos anyway as I don’t like them myself and want to give you my opinion even though it’s not about me or even relevant” as DH and I love tattoos and both already have them)

Anyway. I really really dislike butterflies and moths - it’s the fluttering wings <shudder> as well as their scary weird bodies and evil eyes. It’s not quite a phobia as I have a “proper” phobia of something else which is much more awful, but I am scared of them to the point I have to run away close my eyes if I see one outside and when I got my last tattoo they actually had stuffed and framed moths in the studio and I (somewhat embarrassingly) had to sit where I couldn’t see them.

DH has raised the subject of getting a tattoo of the moth from Silence of the Lambs. As he already has lots of tattoos this would have to be on his chest, and his tattoos are black and grey so said moth would be even more sinister IMO. Yes yes his body his choice but on his chest I would have no choice but to see it especially in situations like having a shag where it could even touch my skin.

DH has suggested we ask MNers who is being unreasonable here. Annoyingly I can’t enable voting on the app but it doesn’t matter as I will be telling DH the vote said that he is being unreasonable anyway

I'm sorry my light hearted tone about a sinister moth tattoo didn't come across well enough. I thought even if people didn't get the tone, specifically saying it was lighthearted in the very first sentence might have been a clue! Well at least DH and I share the same sense of humour (if not the same taste in tattoos) as we have laughed a lot about Sinister Moth Tattoos

I wonder what the thread would have been like in the Tattoo section rather than Fight Club AIBU. I'm half tempted to give it a whirl! What a shame there is no section for moth lovers (similar to The Litter Tray or Doghouse) where poor DH could get some back up

You will all be glad to know no moths will be tattooed on any FuckOff family members. I'm off to rub some lotion on my skin (I actually am, Bepanthen tattoo cream. Maybe I could have tried to make a joke out of that in the OP to make it a funnier thread )

@FuckOffWithYourMothTattoo I found it funny, and am also heavily tattooed and find them sexy on men, especially hands like you said. Obviously only damn good tattoos, no wanky tribal or Love Island style getting them for fashion identikit ones, like someone has walked into a shop and purchased a neck, chest, and double sleeve tattoo all at once. 🤢🤢🤢🤢

I have a mix of black and grey, bright colour, and black and turquoise, including a woman's face with a...dare I say it..butterfly on her mouth. So many people think it's a Silence of the Lambs tattoo. You'd hate me 😂😂

I would be really put off by it. I think it's really unreasonable to get a tattoo like that that you are not going to like.

Yeah it's his body but it's also your husband's body and I believe we do get a say on our partners' bodies either way.

I can't just shave my head (something he would find offputting). He can't just get a tattoo (something I would find offputting).

I actually have a shaved head  Well, part shaved, in this heat it looks more wilted mullet than Mohican though. DH loves it. I would go on about that, and his "say" in my hair, a bit more but I have to keep it lighthearted 

@Athenajm80 I wonder if you are about the same age as me and so know a lot of men our age with a wanky tribal/shit Celtic band thing around their upper arms Luckily DH's tattoos are nothing like that and are beautiful (and I don't have the obligatory dolphin in the small of my back!) Your tattoos sound great (apart from the butterfly obviously )

He could also try rubbing some rancid meat on his chest, wrestling a skunk, or going swimming in sewage before attempting to seduce you, his body, his choice after all, but he would be an idiot to do those things too.
