Kids in swimming pool

The temperature is late twenties, possibly rising to 30C. My DP and I have set up the swimming pool for our 3 young children, who are 3, 2 and 1. I want the swimming pool in the shade, whilst my partner thinks the opposite. AIBU?

Shade... Or they will be boiled alive...

Quitelikeit · 11/08/2022 11:00

The water will keep them cool. Lots of sun cream. Sun hats too

i think it would get v cold for them in the cold water and the shade v quickly so they’d be hopping out all the time

young children do shiver a lot even in swimming pools in centres sometimes

hedgehogger1 · 11/08/2022 11:01

Shade or they'll be burning as they splash

Quitelikeit · 11/08/2022 11:01

Should say so I would go for the sun!

Youcancallmeirrelevant · 11/08/2022 11:01

Sun as it will help to warm the water up a bit. Sun cream, rash vests and sun hats and all good, the water will keep them cool

DeltaAlphaDelta79 · 11/08/2022 11:03

We had no choice but to put ours in the sun. DC used to have decent sun tan lotion, and a t-shirt on and never burned. If its in the shade, the water wont warm up at all. The sun used to warm the water up a little which helped.

splashaway · 11/08/2022 11:04

Yes they will have sun cream, hats on etc.

Is it a swimming pool or a paddling pool? Latter in the shade, former in the sun, otherwise it'll be freezing. Rash vests, swim hats, sun cream.

FatAgainItsLettuceTime · 11/08/2022 11:17

Shade, you feel cooler in the water but the UV effect of the sun remains the same so you are less likely to feel like you are getting burnt and therefore spend more time in the sun than you should.

Kennel100 · 11/08/2022 11:31

In the sun just put hat and sun cream on otherwise the kids wil freeze

millymollymoomoo · 11/08/2022 11:32

In the sun

gatehouseoffleet · 11/08/2022 11:33

Not in the sun! The water magnifies the sun and they will get burnt. Suncream won't help because it comes off in the water. Maybe put in sun to warm up a bit, but then in shade.

Please please please ignore those telling you to put it in the sun.

KrisAkabusi · 11/08/2022 11:40

In the sun to warm the water up.

Immaterialatthispoint · 11/08/2022 11:54

In the sun, with rash vests and suncream and hats.

what about moving a garden parasol around so shade is cast on the pool?

toooldtocarewhoknows · 11/08/2022 11:59

I used to put our paddling pool under a gazebo. Shade and ventilation. In this heat they shouldn't be outdoors unless they are in the shade.

pumpkinpie01 · 11/08/2022 11:59

Sun or the water will be too cold and they won't want to go in it

Fushiadreams · 11/08/2022 12:07

Is he serious? Who’d put little children of that age in the sun?

Daisy03 · 11/08/2022 12:08

Melanoma.
In the shade

No differet to kids pool on holiday, in sun otherwise water is too cold

SirenSays · 11/08/2022 12:11

In the sun with hats and rash vests. Unless you can heat the water somehow it'll be freezing in the shade

babyfrenchie · 11/08/2022 12:12

Pool goes in the sun. Kids rest in the shade when not swimming.

Beachsidesunset · 11/08/2022 12:15

Shade shade shade. Not even a question.

millymollymoomoo · 11/08/2022 12:18

My kids have been in pools in full sun on holidays with 35c temps and full sun

never burnt ( use cream, sun suits etc?) they’re in pool for bit, then out for bit, then in a bit etc all
day long

I wouldn’t put a pool in the shade

FrancescaContini · 11/08/2022 12:21

Shade. Always.

Tuesday598 · 11/08/2022 12:22

Definitely in the shade. I wouldn't want small children out in the sun as they can still burn in a pool
