I've just been reduced to a puddle by the bit in Hunger Games where Katniss volunteers for Prim - you can feel both their panic for each other and it just gets me! gulp Reminds me of the bit in Empire of the Sun when Jamie is separated from his parents in the mob 😭 I feel like this sort of scene hits me harder since having my kids.

Call me bonkers but i love a good film cry, I find it really cathartic. So hit me! Any scene from any film that makes you ugly cry :)

In “Crash” when the little girl runs out to take the bullet for her dad because she thinks she is wearing the invisible protective cloak.
had to take a deep breath just writing that.

Good choice. There are so many extremely poignant moments in that film. Like Thandie Newton in the burning car.

Beautifulsunflowers · 09/08/2022 22:32

In goodnight mr tom
‘I can ride dad - I can really ride’
sob - tears aplenty!

Georgeandzippyzoo · 09/08/2022 22:33

A dog's purpose - all the way through! We now have a dog and I think I'd fall apart x filling up writing this!

The notebook - cried like a baby.

The beginning of the last Fantastic beasts where they steal and kill the baby animal.

Final Jurassic world film where the dinosaurs were 'farm crated'

start of UP. looked liked Id cried for weeks ! Had to go shopping after (just me and hubby went to see it when on a trip!)

Actually I cry at most things now!

In Ai, when the mum abandons the little robot boy in the woods and he begs her to not leave him. Also, a bit later in the movie when he is caught by humans who destroy machines and he keeps repeating to Jude law's character "Keep me safe. Keep me safe.".

I've never cried that much, movie or no movie. I sobbed so hard I found it difficult to breathe. I've had 2 abortions and was terribly triggered.

The pursuit of happyness where he locks the door or the public toilets so he and his son can sleep for the night.

sst1234 · 09/08/2022 22:42

Interstellar ending when Cooper visits a 90 odd year old Murph

InTheEndItDoesntEvenMatter · 09/08/2022 22:46

The impossible, the scene where the brothers find each other, gets me in the feels every time.

greyradiation · 09/08/2022 22:48

Again not another film but Doctor Who Blink when Sally visits a dying old man Billy in hospital when a few minutes before he'd asked her on a date as a young man.

Oh and when the Doctor had to wipe Donna's memory to save her sanity, but gifted her the winning lotto ticket. Bernard Cribbins bonus there too

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 09/08/2022 22:54

The bit in the film Wonder where Aggies friend fights the bully and the teacher pulls them apart and his friend starts to cry makes me cry every time. I can't even really explain why!

The bit in Toy Story 3 they gets me is the last scene and playing with his toys for the last time.

AuntViv · 09/08/2022 22:56

Beaches - the ending and also the video to Wind beneath my wings

Coco - the ending when they sing Remember Me and when the old lady dies

Marley and me - when Marley dies and they watch the video of his life

Watership down - most of it tbh, same with Animal Farm

The Notebook - when the old couple dance and the lady remembers

Bangkok Hilton - when the girl and her disabled brother were executed

Hatchi - most of it but mainly at the end when Haatchi dies and is reunited with his owner

The boy in the striped pyjamas- the ending

If anything happens I love you - short cartoon type movie about parents dealing with the death of their daughter in a school
Shooting.

Apollonia1 · 09/08/2022 22:58

The first 10 mins of the film Up.

alltoomuchrightnow · 09/08/2022 23:00

End of Big Fish
End of Field of Dreams
Quite a few scenes in Angel-A

Apollonia1 · 09/08/2022 23:01

Not a film, but in The Crown, the episode on the mining disaster in Wales.
Omg, I researched more info on the disaster afterwards, and cried so much.

plantseverywhere · 09/08/2022 23:09

The father and son beach scene in About Time - I didn’t even like this film, I thought it was mediocre, but I lost it at this bit when I was hungover!
The part when Bing Bong gets left behind in Inside Out and also the part at the end (I think) when they talk about the childhood memories being a mix of happy and sad.
The last scene of Brokeback Mountain 💔💔💔

plantseverywhere · 09/08/2022 23:10

Oh fucking hell, and the end of Luca when he’s on the train and he’s waving and laughing… I watched it the day after I said goodbye to my first class at the end of term and it was the whole “growing up, moving on and not needing you anymore” thing that made me cry for about ten minutes!

Needhelp101 · 09/08/2022 23:10

Oh god, I've just remembered another one, in Leon, when he's so close to making it out of the building, there's a smile on his face and then Gary Oldman, well, no spoilers... But then Leon places the grenade key in his hand... "this is for Matilda"

And in an early montage scene where Leon's painstakingly ironing his shirts and tending his plant and it just breaks my heart, he's so vulnerable and lonely (despite being a hitman).

Needhelp101 · 09/08/2022 23:11

And yes to the end of Pride. Wonderful film.

plantseverywhere · 09/08/2022 23:13

AND so much of Billy Elliot - when his dad crosses the picket line and Tony is begging him not to and they’re fighting and then his dad collapses in tears… and when Billy is leaving on the train. I can’t watch it now!

Needhelp101 · 09/08/2022 23:14

Also the ending of Bohemian Rhapsody.

rumblefish23 · 09/08/2022 23:14

When Goose dies in Top Gun, Jack in Titanic, The War Horse, ET in the river gets me every time xx

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 09/08/2022 23:17

The bit where the mum and daughter reunite in Home has me in tears every time.

Anything that involves dogs dying!

Redlorryyellowlorryblue · 09/08/2022 23:18

The beginning of Up, the end of Marley and Me and when Hillary dies in Beaches - sobbed my heart out.

BonnesVacances · 09/08/2022 23:21

drawacircleroundit · 09/08/2022 12:02

The whole opening of “Up”.

The bit that gets me in UP is when Carl lets go of the house. Sad

HelloBunny · 09/08/2022 23:23

Not a movie, but Only Fools Abd Horses, when Cassandra has a miscarriage. And Rodney says it’s not her fault. I love how the show mixes in the tragedy, and poignant moments, with the comedy. It’s real life.

EarringsandLipstick · 09/08/2022 23:23

The notebook - cried like a baby.

I never, ever understand the love for The Notebook. It is a terrible sickly sentimental movie, and so over-acted it's unreal.

Not a tear shed!
