I only have apple maps on my iPhone but my friend recently suggested I should install Google maps as apparently it’s better? Xx

Ordnance survey paper maps for me. No electricity needed.

Not so easy when driving tho 😅

Google maps but she can be very annoying “ bear right and continue west on Station Road”

1 I don’t have a handy compass so compass bearings are pointless .

2 if only there was a national agreement about where to position street names

Then there are the sudden silences when she doesn’t say anything for ages and you are left wondering if you have upset her in some way……

I like a traditional sat nav with a screen big enough to see the map.

Waze for me!

We have a phase in our house, stolen from a radio comedy; ‘up shit creek with Apple Maps’.

Loungingstevens · 08/08/2022 20:49

Waze is best for driving - tbey have lots of users inputting info so I think it’s alwYs the most up to date with traffic etc

but for directions - like walking - I use google maps.
Google is the one that went and mapped out all the roads didn’t they? I thibk apple
Just use their data.

For all those saying Waze is better than Google maps, it's owned by google, so there's really no difference other than how it looks. It uses the same base maps and information.

Waze is better. Dh and I have driven in separate vehicles but the same trip quite a few times. We have experimented with both, he used waze, I used Google maps. He was home before us everytime! And not because he speeds either, he is very obedient to the speed limits and uses a limiter. He's a very sensible driver.

Waze for driving, Google maps for walking.
Yes Waze uses Google maps as its base but it's the real time updates that it acquires from other drivers are what makes the difference. Yes you have to be picky sometimes if you don't want a toll road but that's easily solved.
Waze is really good for driving more like the old Sat navs in terms of visual interface which I really prefer to Google maps, much clearer.

I use Google maps on iPhone/iPad as they are much more up to date than Apple's. I use my car's own version when driving though so as to not chew all my data up on my phone

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 09/08/2022 17:03

Google maps. Even though I have an apple phone, I think apple maps is shit.

Usually I check Waze before hand to see what the journey is typically like at that time of day etc, but use Google maps on the actually journey as it’s easier to follow.

I agree.

I mostly use Apple Maps, much prefer the interface.

I use Google Maps for pin drops sent for my DC matches - so to v specific pitches which are not searchable on Apple Maps. I still hate it. I think the instructions come marginally too late / early so I'm never quite prepared or else just miss the turn etc.

When you know, you know.
