To think LinkedIn has gone weird?

It feels like Facebook or Instagram.

People are posting themselves drinking beer, in Ibiza and with their kids - is it just me to think it's supposed to be a professional platform so this is just weird?

What kind of things do you post on LinkedIn? I'm quite new to it so maybe I'm wrong - interested to hear others opinions.

It is cringey all right.
The only thing LinkedIn is good for, is for hearing about new job opportunities from recruiters.

I'm sick of it being full of people sharing their stories about terminal illness/baby loss, usually with photos.

Too upsetting to use any more. I long for the old days of cringe virtue-signalling!

Also I don't need or care about some recruiter I spoke to once's wedding / incredible honeymoon / incredible weight loss / coming out as trans journey / teenage pregnancy journey / birth of baby / death of baby (they have my utmost sympathy on this one of course as a human being but I don't expect this on a forum I use to get jobs)

Just logged into mine and, putting aside all the multiple identical posts from my colleagues bigging our latest product launch and being voted best blah blah in blah, I've got:

#travel #wedding #marriage
#Givesomeoneachance
My electric car is better than your electric car
#GoingAboveAndBeyond
Load of product placement ads
my job is better than your job willy-waving

And a load of InMail Sponsored job offers from recruitment people that I no longer read as they can't be bothered to send me personal messages anymore.

#Cringe and #tedious is what my inner hashtags are saying.

It's the posts that are completely made up humble-brags that are my favourite.

"Went to the gym at 3am today - saw a homeless man on the way, gave him a job as Operations Director on the spot as everyone deserves a chance"

Qlorex · 08/08/2022 13:50

😂

TheWayoftheLeaf · 08/08/2022 13:59

I dont post. I update my workplace/role and bio as and when I change jobs. That's it.

YANBU.
I went on there to find work yet it's just loaded with peoples posts and asking for others opinions. That's what I come MN for!

TowelChair · 08/08/2022 20:13

It’s ridiculous. So full of posturing and cringey posts!!

😁
I've given up basically. It's full of shite. Just ok if you are looking for a job

I agree. Its gone from a stuffy space no one dared to post in to near on Facebook! The absolute overshare i saw once was a woman (who i dont know) celebrating having a mastectomy. Great, im glad shes well and everything but she didnt need to include a photo of herself with no top on. I mean good for her sharing her news and not being self conscious BUT not appropriate for Linkedin imo! Would she whip up her top in the office to show colleagues or the boss? 🤔

DisforDarkChocolate · 26/09/2022 11:51

I am mighty fed up of the 'I don't normally post this on LinkedIn but....' posts. I use it for work and volunteering only.
