I gave up last season when the annoying cardiac woman was having dream sequences. They'd killed off one of the few people I liked and I just thought stuff it.

I just recently watched Transplant and really enjoyed it, if anyone wants a new hospital show.

awwbiscuits · 07/08/2022 22:07

It was fab in the beginning. Cristina was my favourite. After she left it got a bit shit. Then the plane crash. A bit more shit. Then Alex left, and I just gave up.

LookAtThatCritter · 07/08/2022 22:07

I stopped watching as soon as the COVID-style storyline started. It got way too politically correct.

autienotnaughty · 07/08/2022 22:24

The first ten series were fantastic after that it was hit and Miss and it's been dire since season 16. I still watch out of loyalty but if I'd never seen it I would not have entertained the last 3 seasons at all.

Palegreenstars · 07/08/2022 22:30

I stopped the episode De Luca left - half the story line happened on a spin off show and I was so furious that they could ditch a main character in a way that didn’t make sense unless you watched a different show.

I never realised that what show was it?

FatAgainItsLettuceTime · 07/08/2022 22:41

Station 19 is the spin off.

xJoyfulCalmWisdomx · 07/08/2022 22:42

oh yeh, the covid season was SO SHIT
Gave up at that point.

Yes, exactly this, my dd and I were rewinding, trying to figure out if we'd missed an episode or something. So annoying.

Triffid1 · 07/08/2022 22:50

I still watch and enjoyit but the sheer number of times the staff at greys are in mortal danger and/or die has me literally screaming at the TV sometimes. Dh thinks it's hilarious as I rant about how no one needed can join because they will be shot/stabbed/ in a helicopter crash/ held hostage/drive off a cliff etc. It's such lazy writing.

I am also tired of how all the bi-sexual characters are women. It's never a MAN who, it turns out, was in a long term relationship with a man at University. And it's never a male character who just "finds his person" and that person happens to also be a man (after 30 years of being hetrosexual). It really really annoys me.

Also, Bailey has gone from.being tough to a big whiner and it's exhausting.

jellybe · 07/08/2022 22:54

Yanu! I've stopped watching as it is just trash now. Think I might have to watch it again from the beginning as the latest serious has been so piss poor.

AnneShirleysNewDress · 07/08/2022 23:11

YADNBU! I'm currently on a re-watch. It's not the same after the plane crash.

CrossStitch87 · 08/08/2022 01:13

Karev’s exit was absolutely farcical.

CrossStitch87 · 08/08/2022 01:14

Also I loathe that half of the storyline is on Station 19. I have no interest in watching that

Teardroprain · 08/08/2022 05:28

The golden age of Greys anatomy ended with Yang. Karen was the nail in the coffin. Myself and the cat rewatch the whole series every year. I could not even be bothered to keep watching from the covid episodes. The good characters leave and the characters I can't stand stay. Owen, Teddy, Jo and Amalia is starting to annoy me. Maggie is borderline but I wish they had worked on her relationship with Richard more.

Darktimes35 · 08/08/2022 06:42

I love Greys so much. But it stopped being good so many seasons ago. I’m not invested in any of the characters and these days find myself scrolling through my phone whilst it’s on. It’s a shame as it was so great before.

Backtothenineties · 08/08/2022 09:33

I must be the only one who didn't like Christina. I thought she was arrogant and mean and didn't care about anyone other than herself and occasionally Meredith. I really don't get why so many like her character

xJoyfulCalmWisdomx · 08/08/2022 09:38

ah no, she just had determination. Like, the reason she didn't want children wasn't because she wouldn't love them, the reason she didn't have children was because she wasn't a monster, she would love them, and that would take her focus of her passion. She wasn't a robot. She was really really focused. She is the complete opposite of me, I'm a meandering indecisive people pleaser and she'd have hated me! But on TV, I loved her. She reminded me it was ok to have my own agenda and not just fall in to line with the agenda of somebody more dominant. (such as christina)

grayhairdontcare · 08/08/2022 19:01

I also hated that Karev just disappeared and sent letters.
What a load of tosh

Currently rewatching and on Season 3. I agree the early days were the best! Too many people left/killed off.
MAGIC!

ImAvingOops · 08/08/2022 19:14

I loved Christina for the very reason that she was strong and despite the odd wobble, didn't let men Owen take her ambition and force her into a life she didn't want!
But God, it's dire now. I would love to know that pushed the actor who played Karev over the edge, such that he would just go, with no decent exit story.
Couldn't bear the lecturing Covid season - Shonda can fuck off with that. It's time it stopped limping on.

autienotnaughty · 08/08/2022 22:22

A lot of peoples endings were shit -
Deluca
Alex
Izzie
Addison
April
Callie

Dogappreciationsociety · 08/08/2022 22:49

Ive just googled... the guy who played Karev is 52!!!

Thatswhyimacat · 08/08/2022 23:01

I'm honestly astounded that this show is still going. When it started I was at secondary school and I'm now only 5 years younger than my parents were then.

SarahAndQuack · 08/08/2022 23:29

I must be unusual because I do like Meredith and do think Pompeo is very watchable.

But I agree the show has gone so far down hill. Yang was far and away the best character - they needed to bring in someone new with that much energy and interest, and they just didn't. To me it seems to have become much more conventional and male-dominated. In the early years, sure, there was McDreamy as a love interest, and Alex and George as friends, but the main storyline was between Meredith and Christina. I found that so refreshing and well-written.

It's become much less feminist and feisty, and much less interesting to watch.
