To want to go on a spa break on my own?

Ok serious first world problem alert - please don't shoot me down in flames.

Fairly significant birthday approaching. It's been a rough couple of years and DH, knowing that basically all I'm craving is peace, quiet and a bit of time to myself^^ without him and the kids, has had the marvellous idea of sending me on a solo spa weekend for my present.

Honestly I cannot think of anything better, but can I find any spa packages for one person that are not in London?! I cannot!

Surely I can't be the only person in the whole of the north of England* who wants a bit of 'just me' time? Every single thing I've looked at is 'minimum two people' or 'based on two sharing'. Argh!

*(would also stretch to Scotland!)

Hoar cross hall Staffordshire?
Eden hall?

I'm with you!

Have you looked at Champneys? Have stayed at Springs many times usually with two others and we take turns to have the single room and share the single room supplement.

There are always people there on their own as well.

DSGR · 07/08/2022 20:36

I often go for spa breaks on my own! There are various places!

bumpytrumpy · 07/08/2022 20:36

Rudding Park definitely does single person spa access.

hellsbells99 · 07/08/2022 20:36

Here is a link to some here. Otherwise just phone up where you want to go and see what they will offer you. Enjoy!

If your on a budget, have you looked at Groupon or Travelzoo - both have good deals
Just check Independent reviews on tripadvisor.

The low wood does. Infinity pool that looks on to lake Windermere. Bliss.

MayMoveMayNot · 07/08/2022 20:43

Definitely.

After 20yrs marriage I had my first night away by myself a few months ago, I went to Champneys (get a generous discount) for 24 hours and it was absolutely BLISS.

I'm doing it again later this year. 😁

YANBU to want 'me time'. I wonder if some are not doing solo offers because they fear a male majority or pervy male behaviour.

Kittyshopping · 07/08/2022 20:44

Stobo Castle. The best!

Most hotel rooms sleep two these days and the price remains the same.
I would recommend,
The Grand, York
Turnberry
Blythswood, Glasgow
The Royal Crescent, Bath
Macdonald Old England in Bowness

Random and not much nearby but Lochside in Cumnock, Scotland is reasonably priced and ideal for a solo rest.

Gardengirl85 · 07/08/2022 20:50

Omg @Notapartyanimal I'm doing exactly this this weekend and I CANNOT wait!! I just booked a hotel that has a good spa and then booked my treatments…2nights of bliss!! You are most definitely not alone in wanting/needing some me time!!! I hope you find something that suits!!

GreenFingersWouldBeHandy · 07/08/2022 20:50

You don't have to book 'a package'. Just book somewhere with spa facilities and then book the treatments you want.

Thefailinghousewife · 07/08/2022 20:54

Was about to come on and suggest Rudding park - it’s proper spendy but no other spa comes close to being as amazing!

Notapartyanimal · 07/08/2022 20:57

Omg I am so thick...it genuinely hadn't occurred to me to just book a hotel and then book spa treatments separately!

I am definitely in need of a break 😂😂😂

I think you can do Rudding Park with Teaco vouchers too! It's gorgeous.

NoseyNellie · 07/08/2022 21:00

I would recommend going to one that is a dedicated spa rather than a hotel with spa - that way you can waft around in your dressing gown all day without bumping into business travellers or golfers 😀

No idea what the PP talking about pervy males is on about I’m a frequent solo spa goer and I’ve never got lucky 😂

holidayhonesty · 07/08/2022 21:01

I was given a spa voucher for Christmas that 8nclided a massage and afternoon tea. I then booked a hotel stay for myself on top. It was lovely. I hope you get something sorted and have a wonderful peaceful time!

BarbaraofSeville · 07/08/2022 21:02

The Woodland Spa near Burnley is amazing.

The website mentions single supplements so you can book to go alone.

Monart Spa has spoilt me forever, but appreciate it's a bit of a shlep from the North of England. Or indeed anywhere in Mainland UK. Absolutely incredible place.

Seainasive · 07/08/2022 21:16

I would second Hoarcross Hall.

Flyonthewall01 · 07/08/2022 21:21

The Mere in knutsford do as I have had a spa day alone there before and so does titanic spa in Huddersfield

ThinWomansBrain · 07/08/2022 21:25

It genuinely hadn't occurred to me to just book a hotel and then book spa treatments separately!

It's an option, but choose carefully I'm sure these are many hotels with good spa areas, have used some a day guest - but the majority will be a postage stamp size pool with an even tinier jacuzzi and sauna or steam room that may or not be open.
V different to a spa hotel that revolves around the spa & treatments.

Have a brilliant time, wherever you choose
