To want to go on a spa break on my own?

Ok serious first world problem alert - please don't shoot me down in flames.

Fairly significant birthday approaching. It's been a rough couple of years and DH, knowing that basically all I'm craving is peace, quiet and a bit of time to myself^^ without him and the kids, has had the marvellous idea of sending me on a solo spa weekend for my present.

Honestly I cannot think of anything better, but can I find any spa packages for one person that are not in London?! I cannot!

Surely I can't be the only person in the whole of the north of England* who wants a bit of 'just me' time? Every single thing I've looked at is 'minimum two people' or 'based on two sharing'. Argh!

*(would also stretch to Scotland!)

Stobo without a doubt. They have a few single rooms or you can pay a bit extra for single use of a double room. Amazing place :)

Oulton Hall Spa is nice, I went alone recently. Lovely hotel too.

Yajebbend · 07/08/2022 21:32

Just putting it out there that David Lloyd has some really nice spas attached to there gyms so for £164 you can get unlimited spa access from 7am until 11pm everyday all month!!

Ragdale Hall in Leicestershire is great

StoneofDestiny · 07/08/2022 21:36

Been on a few solo spa breaks as gifts from my DH - Hoar Cross Hall and Ragdale Hall I did as a solo.

Moddershall oaks is lovely 🥰

I go on spa breaks on my own as do many others. Give the places a call. What you want to avoid though is places that do group bookings so hens and big parties of people. Champneys st Forest Mere have a sharing table if you wish where you can meet up with other singles for chat. I've met so many fascinating people that way and made a couple of life long friends. If you do go to a spa, I recommend three nights as it takes a day to get into the everyone is wearing a bathrobe vibe!

Lakeside Hotel and spa is beautiful in the Lakes

Godzillaandgodzuki · 07/08/2022 21:50

I'm going on my own for two nights to The Malvern which is in, as it sounds, Malvern, Worcestershire.

Omg I am so thick...it genuinely hadn't occurred to me to just book a hotel and then book spa treatments separately!

I am definitely in need of a break 😂😂😂

Was just coming to say this lol.

I love a spa day alone. I probably wouldn't do two. So I'd book a spa day for the day 1, good night's sleep in a nearby hotel and then late check out after breakfast and then local art gallery / lunch etc to drag out what time you get home.

Orangesandlemons82 · 07/08/2022 21:54

@Soproudoflionesses I had the same thought! I would love two nights at the one in Leamington spa and would spend the day mooching around different cafes 😳

skylark42 · 07/08/2022 21:54

I can recommend Titanic Spa near Huddersfield. It’s really very good. They have their own apartments, or you could get a hotel nearby. Also echo the recommendations for Rudding Park.

skylark42 · 07/08/2022 21:55

PS definitely not being unreasonable wanting time just to yourself. Sounds like a great idea!

ShipsAhoy78 · 07/08/2022 21:57

The Fairlawns in Aldridge is exceptional.

lrosey · 07/08/2022 22:07

Ragdale Hall, pretty sure you can stay alone.

WhiskersPete · 07/08/2022 22:07

I went last week on my own to Ribby Hall Spa in Lancashire. It was wonderful.

WhiskersPete · 07/08/2022 22:09

Which is also a hotel, I meant to add...

FatherJacksBrick · 08/08/2022 10:28

If I were going to do this I would pick Aqua Sana. They do overnight spa breaks and you pay per room so I guess it doesn't matter if you go by yourself. I've done one with my husband at Longleat and it was heavenly. You could do the Sherwood Forest one?

Fairyliz · 08/08/2022 10:30

Years ago I went to Ragdale Hall in Leicestershire on my own.
It was expensive but utter bliss. Well worth it if you can afford it and I’m sure they still do single rooms.

Notsoyummymummy2 · 08/08/2022 10:59

DO IT! I went to Ragdale Hall by myself for two nights. It was total and utter bliss. It’s a proper spa, the type where you can wear your dressing gown the whole time, to meals, to the pools, to a massage, to wander round the little gift shops, walk around the gardens etc.

Now I’ve had two babies and thought few years, I am hoping to do it again soon.
